Teamfight Tactics Set 17 Jax Hero Augment: Successfully Gazing Into the Stars

Jax is a terrifying champion in League of Legends. If he can get going, he crushes everyone. His hero augment in Set 17 of Teamfight Tactics is the same. Very little can stop Jax once he starts going. However, reaching that stage takes its time. We are here to help you reach the stars with the Jax Hero Augment and climb your way to victory.

Jax’s spell in Teamfight Tactics has two facets, taken from his League of Legends kit. His auto attacks deal additional magic damage. When he activates his spell, he deals additional damage to his target. He also gains stacking movement speed and attack speed for the rest of combat.

Approaching the Augment

Early Game

  • Slam items aggressively to win streak
  • You can level early to start your win streak
    • Can play three Stargazer and two Bastion

Mid Game

  • Slow roll on level six for your three-star units
    • Priority is Jax, next is Caitlyn or Twisted Fate, and prioritize items for the one you have more copies of
    • Talon, Gwen, and Aatrox are luxury

Late Game

  • If you are pla ying on the Medallion Stargazer, it can be a good idea to stay low level and roll for the rest of your units.
  • If you level up, add in Rhaast at seven.
    • Can drop Rhaast for four Bastion on level eight.

The Final Board

  • Aatrox
  • Caitlyn
  • Talon
  • Twisted Fate
  • Gwen
  • Jax
  • Rhaast/Bastion
  • Fourth Bastion

Itemization

Jax

Two of the most important items for Jax are Guinsoo’s Rageblade and Bloodthirster. The Rageblade allows Jax to ramp up in fights, while Bloodthirster keeps him alive. The third item is relatively flexible between Quicksilver and Titan’s Resolve. Titan’s is the better item between the two.

Caitlyn

Caitlyn is another unit that needs Guinsoo’s Rageblade to function. As a Fateweaver, she does not need Infinity Edge for Precision. Kraken’s Fury, Guardbreaker, and Giant Slayer are other options.

Twisted Fate

Twisted Fate is a Fateweaver like Caitlyn, meaning he does not need Jeweled Gauntlet. He can use almost any other AP items. His BIS is double Nashor’s Tooth. However, given how many bows you need, it is unlikely you will have enough for both.

Aatrox

If you hit three-star Aatrox, he will use tank items. Sunfire Cape is ideal, since you do not have other users for it. Thanks to his N.O.V.A. contribution, he does not need Ionic Spark or Evenshroud. If you do not three-star Aatrox, other Bastions or Rhaast can use the tank items.

Positioning Tips

Position around the Stargazer Hexes for the most value. It is most important when you have the Medallion Stargazer. Otherwise, keep your units on the same side to help Jax burst through the frontline. The burst damage from Twisted Fate and Caitlyn can even kill the primary tank. Jax in the second row will mean he does not get targeted at the start of the fight.

Best Space Gods

Varus or Kayle are the best Space Gods for this composition. That will apply to all hero augments. Ahri is okay as well, if she gives you rerolls. Varus’s additional duplicators can guarantee you hit your units, and his boon increases your team strength. Kayle can ensure you get the items you want, and her boon provides combat power.

Additional Tips

The composition is playable on other Stargazer constellations. However, it pairs best with Medallion. The increased damage amp allows the composition to tear through the opponent’s boards. Every three-star unit with this constellation is worth it, even if you do not have items for them. Any portals that grant rerolls, lesser champion duplicators, or components will help to cap your composition.
