With the console wars of yesteryears seemingly over, the PlayStation 5 has emerged as a powerhouse of unforgettable PS5 exclusive gaming experiences, thanks in large part to its stellar lineup of exclusives. It seems that with passing generation, most games are being released across all platforms, not counting mobile games, of course. Fortunately, Sony’s flagship console regularly delivers titles that simply can’t be found anywhere else. These PS5 exclusives aren’t just games, they’re reasons to own the console. Let’s dive into the best of the best that make the PS5 a must-have for any serious gamer.

Astro’s Playroom (2020)

This bright and colorful 3D platformer is a fun PS5 exclusive game that comes pre-installed on PS5 consoles and serves two purposes: it’s a showcase of the PS5’s technology, and it’s a worthwhile playthrough experience. While venturing through the CPU Plaza, you’ll learn about the internal components of the PS5 in a creative way. It’s similar to how you’d get Super Mario Bros. for free when you bought a Nintendo NES, except this time it’s a modern tech demo and full game in one.

Following that, players get to experience other features like the DualSense controller’s adaptive triggers, gyro controls, touchpad, haptic feedback, and built-in speaker. There are also plenty of neat little references and callbacks to the entire PlayStation history to really jumpstart the nostalgia for those who’ve been fortunate enough to have gamed for that long. If you’re on a tight budget or on the fence about owning a PS5, go out and do it, since you’ll get this packaged PS5 exclusive inside to start enjoying your new console straight out of the box!

Demon’s Souls (Remake) (2020)

A visually stunning remake of the classic action RPG from 2009, players can experience the game that singlehandedly redefined a genre and evolved into the masterpiece series it is today. Set in Boletaria, this game is revered for its no-nonsense difficulty and challenge, along with the hauntingly beautiful fantasy world.

What also makes this PS5 exclusive game top-notch is how you’re able to create your own character, similar to how you would in a tabletop RPG like Dungeons & Dragons. There are a myriad of choices to help you customize the perfect character tailored to your vision. The combat combines aim, timing, learning how your weapon attacks, and how each enemy fights. Although it’s a story-driven PvE game, it also introduced a randomized co-op mode and PvP feature to really keep players on edge. The result is a video game that’s truly remarkable and a must-play. Go buy a PS5 now and own a copy of Demon’s Souls.

Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 (2023)

The first Spider-Man game was already a great example of a modern AAA action-adventure title (holding onto the record of the #1-selling PS4 game of all time), then this PS5 exclusive sequel came along and totally upped the ante. For the first time, players could switch between both Peter Parker and Miles Morales, each with their own moveset, and play through two different storylines.

The first Spider-Man PS5 exclusive game perfectly captured what it would be like to swing through New York, run on walls, shoot webs at bad guys, and beat them up. In this exclusive sequel, Peter Parker gains access to the Venom symbiote, granting him a host of new powers. Meanwhile, Miles Morales is more than just a side character on stealth missions this time around. As a main character, Miles can use his bio-electric sword, and both heroes can use a set of Web Wings to glide around and through wind tunnels. The hype and positive reviews around this game are real, and this is a perfect reason to buy a PS5. On a similar quick note, if you’re a superhero fan in general, make sure to check out these Superman games.

Silent Hill: The Short Message (2024)

If you’re in the mood for a mini horror romp, this free PS5 exclusive game is an eerie, psychological teaser that offers a creepy glimpse into the possible future of Silent Hill games. Jump into the role of a teenage girl named Anita, who begins getting texts from her friend—who committed suicide!

So, like any normal teenager, Anita starts to follow the text messages until she arrives in Kettenstadt, Germany. Then, things inevitably take a turn for the worse as she’s chased by some kind of cherry blossom monster and stumbles into seemingly supernatural spaces.

Be warned: this game is not for the lighthearted; there are very dark, disturbing, and mature themes at work here. Although there’s no combat, and all you really do is run away and explore, the game really sucks you in and makes you feel its horror. So, if this is your type of game, go out and buy a PS5, because that’s the only way you’ll be able to play it (and maybe future Silent Hill games?).

Death Stranding 2: On the Beach (2025)

This action-adventure PS5 exclusive game will once again let you play as Sam Porter Bridges as he goes on a journey throughout Australia and Mexico in post-apocalyptic states, eleven months after the first game.

A PS5 exclusive game that closely resembles real life, players will need to decide how they navigate the perilous world and will have different ways to engage in combat, stealth, or escape with numerous items. The Social Strand System (SSS) from the first game continues to evolve here with more access to vehicles, infrastructure, monorails, and more. The general buzz around this game touts it as a video game masterpiece that feels cinematic and is full of worthwhile surprises. Although the first game eventually made it to Windows after over a year, do you really want to take the chance and wait that long to play this game? We didn’t think so. Do yourself a favor—go out and buy a PS5 so you can play this game now!

Gran Turismo 7

The Gran Turismo is a legendary PS5 exclusive video game franchise that has trailblazed video game history for Sony and even had a movie adaptation that brought the racing simulation to life in different ways. As a simulation racing game, it fires on all cylinders and belongs in the collection of anyone who has ever dreamed about driving the world’s most popular sports cars, supercars, and hypercars. From JDM to American Muscle and Euro, it’s all here.

Even if you’re not a hardcore racing fan or automotive enthusiast, you can easily find yourself addicted to the career progression mode, allowing you to earn money, buy used cars, soup them up, race them, and so on. The graphics are amazing and the music is super catchy and thematic. Gran Turismo 7 also capitalizes on the PS5’s new controller, and you’ll have a blast racing against competition from around the world or with your friends. If you enjoy cars and racing, then you already own this game and a PS5. Otherwise, treat yourself to a unique experience and check out Gran Turismo to help broaden your horizons.

With unforgettable stories, jaw-dropping visuals, and next-gen gameplay, PS5 exclusives aren’t just games — they’re experiences you won’t find anywhere else. On a different note, if you’re a fan of classic retro games, check out our list of forgotten 90s JRPGs.
