The devs at Red Barrels, creators of The Outlast Trials, have dropped some new updates for the game. At the IGN Fall Fan Fest 2025, a trailer for the new The Outlast Trials Invasion mode was released, where players can battle it out with a new PVP update coming tomorrow. Here are all the details on the new update and all that was shown at IGN Fall Fan Fest 2025.

The Outlast Trials New Trailer

The Outlast Trials stands as a prequel multiplayer game to the first two games of the series. It’s bloody, it’s disgusting, very disturbing, all the while pretty entertaining because of the multiplayer aspect to it. IGN Fall Fan Fest dropped a new trailer for the game, introducing a new PVP mode. The trailer is set to the narration of the official story description of Invasion Mode.

The trailer shows some gameplay footage and a lot of cinematic footage of the new mode, where, towards the end, the trailer shows players able to disguise themselves as prisoners and try to kill other players. It’s almost a gritty version of Among Us, with the trailer even stating you will be an imposter among the prisoners. So, how does Invasion Mode work?

New Invasion Mode

To access the new mode, players will start from the Sleep Room Terminals to be able to select Invasion Mode. It will allow players to join as either a Reagent or an Imposter; however, only a certain number of players will be able to join as Imposters in one match. During matches, the Imposter team will be able to employ a limited number of Imposters at a time, though that doesn’t make the rest of the Imposters purposeless when they’re not employed as Imposters.

This mode will be introduced in the Season 4 update of the game, which is releasing tomorrow. Other new features of the game included in the update are:

  • The Geister 2025 New Time-Limited Event
  • Time-Limited Catalog
  • Two new MK-Challenges – Beguile the Children and Investigate the Minotaur
  • Debut of the new In-Game Store
