Week 2, Day 3 of the LTA North Split 3. 100T vs FLY. 100T’s roster is Sniper (top), River (jungle), Quid (mid), FBI (bot), and Eyla (support). FLY’s roster is Bwipo (top), Inspired (jungle), Quad (mid), Massu (bot), and Busio (support). For more information on what Early, Mid, and Late Game means, see Terms at the bottom of the article.

Game 1: FLY Out Maneuver 100T

The 1st set of bans take out Annie, Varus, Poppy, Pantheon, Taliyah, and Trundle from the equation. The 2nd set removes Aurora, Alistar, Ambessa, and Ka’Sai. 100T opt for strong engagement and long-range follow-up with their picks of Gwen (Top), Wukong (Jungle), Azir (Mid), Jhin (Bot), and Rakan (Support). FLY decides to go for zoning and poke by drafting Rumble (Top), Sejuani (Jungle), Yone (Mid), Ezreal (Bot), and Neeko (Support).

The Early Game starts off with a kick as Massu almost dies before the 1-minute mark. He gets away without having to burn either Flash or Barrier, though. A replay shows that he face checked 100T’s Red Side Tri-Brush to start things off. Despite this early faux pas, FLY get both 1st Blood (Bwipo, with the help of Inspired, kills Sniper in Bot Lane) and the 1st Drake (Mountain). FLY also claims all 3 Voidgrubs, but it does cost Inspired and Busio their lives in the fight that follows. The Early Game ends with FLY ahead in gold by 300, but 100T ahead in kills by 2-1.

The 2nd Drake (Chemtech) goes over to 100T. They claim it without contest. A series of cross-map kills for both teams brings the score up to 4-3 in 100T’s favor. Despite 100T attempts to start up a fight, FLY is able to claim the Rift Herald. This is followed by a few more cross-map kills, which evens out the score to 5-5. 100T starts up the 3rd Drake (Hextech), but Inspired summons the Rift Herald, Steals the Drake, and then rides Shelly into 100T Outer Mid Turret. Mid Game ends with FLY now ahead by 2.7k gold and the skill score even.

A skirmish in Top River before Atakhan spawns leads to FLY taking the lead in kills, 7-6, and grabbing Atakhan almost on spawn. Inspired solos the 4th Drake uncontested while, at the same time, Quad deletes Eyla, upping the score to 8-6 for FLY. A fight in Mid Lane ups the score again. Now at 11 kills to 6, FLY heads over to Baron and claims it uncontested.

Using Baron, FLY force their way into 100T’s Base through Mid Lane. Though Massu dies, FLY is able to pick up 3 kills and destroy the Mid Inhibitor and both Nexus Turrets. FLY back off, take the 5th Drake uncontested to gain the Hextech Soul, return to 100T’s Base, grab 4 more kills (while suffering 1 death themselves), and end the game at 29:36 with a 13.1k gold lead. The final score was 18-8.

Game 2: FLY Claw Out a Win

The 1st set of bans take out Annie, Varus, Poppy, Pantheon, Trundle, and Senna from the equation. The 2nd set removes Sivir, Sion, Yunara, and Yorick. 100T comp of Renekton (Top), Vi (Jungle), Aurora (Mid), Ka’Sai (Bot), and Alistar (Support) has strong pick potential with a decent front line. FLY’s draft is more control and CC heavy with their picks of K’Sante (Top), Xin Zhao (Jungle), Taliyah (Mid), Corki (Bot), and Bard (Support).

This time around, 100T has a more aggressive start. They manage to both secure the 1st Drake (Hextech) and get 1st Blood (Inspired gets caught out and killed while scouting the 1st Drake). Bwipo tries to get his revenge later by killing Eyla in the Bot Lane, but he ends up dying to FBI in the end, so the score is still in 100T’s favor.

A fight over the Voidgrubs evens out the score to 3-3, with the members of FLY only managing to survive thanks to Busio’s Magical Journey. River is only able to claim 1 of the Grubs. Though Bwipo gets killed in the Bot Lane, giving 100T the kill lead again, Inspired is able to claim the remaining 2 Grubs. Early Game ends with 100T ahead in gold by 3 and also ahead in kills 4-3.

A fight over the 2nd Drake brings the kill score up to 7-5 in 100T favor. No one claims the objective. 100T returns to claim it a little later. River gets picked off near Mid Lane, allowing FLY to take Rift Herald uncontested. FLY also claim the 3rd Drake (Cloud) uncontested as 100T opt to take their Outer Top Turret instead. Mid Game ends with FLY now the ones ahead in gold (by 1.2k), but 100T still ahead in kills by 7-6.

The Late Game starts out with a Tower Dive by FLY to take out Sniper. 100T responds by taking the Outer Bot Turret and starting a fight that leads to Rift Herald getting summoned for nothing, and Inspired dying to River. The score is yet again in 100T’s favor. Afterwards, 100T starts up the Atakhan, but the remaining members of FLY engage on them. Though 100T is able to secure the objective, they lose 3 members in the process. The score is now 10-8 in FLY’s favor.

River gets caught out and picked off in his own Red Side Jungle. FLY then chase down Eyla and kill him too. FLY uses this opening to set up around the Dragon Pit. When the Drake spawns, 100T starts it up, but FLY pushes them off and takes control of the Drake. River, however, is able to Smite-Steal it away. A fight breaks out. Though 100T claimed the objective, they lose the fight 4-1. A trade of kills in 100T’s Red Side Jungle brings the kills score up to 17-10 for FLY.

After a lot of posturing, scouting, warding, and poking, a fight breaks out around the Baron Pit. Thanks to a Bard Ultimate, 100T’s engage fails, and FLY are able to win the fight 4-0. They then barrel down Mid Lane, destroying everything between them and Nexus, and end the game at 30:43 with a 9.2k gold lead. The final score was 21-10.

Post Series Analysis: LTA North Continues to Bleed Unnecessary Kills

While Game 1 came down to FLY’s better execution and mechanics, Game 2 was won, in part, due to members of 100T getting caught out. While this wasn’t the only factor, FLY did, after all, win an honest fight team to end the game; it did allow FLY to slowly regain control over the map and claw their way out of the hole they were in.

That said, River performed well, for the most part, in Game 2, Stealing both Atakhan and the 4th Drake. Had 100T poked a bit more in the last fight before charging in, they might have been able to mitigate the delay caused by Busio’s Ultimate and thus won the game as such. Props to Busio for excellent reaction time.
