Unstoppable Nintendo Switch 2 is (Reportedly) Doubling Beloved Switch 1 Sales

The Nintendo Switch 2 is sold out everywhere. I’ve hunted GameStop, Best Buy, and Nintendo’s official site, but nobody has them, even though it’s been almost a month since the console launched. Now, the Switch 2 has doubled the first-month sales of its beloved predecessor, the original Switch.

The Nintendo Switch 2 has (Reportedly) Sold 5.4 Million Units

According to The Gamer, the Switch 2 has reportedly sold 5.4 million units in less than a month. For comparison, the original Switch sold 2.7 units in its first month. The Switch 2 has also outsold the PlayStation 2, which sold 3.4 million units in its first month, and the Nintendo DS, which sold 2.8 million units in its first month. If the Switch 2 keeps this momentum up, it could become the best-selling console of all time.

But Wait a Minute . . .

The information about the 5.4 million units sold came from Nintendo’s official site. Even though they’re still proudly displaying how the system sold 3.5 million units in its first four days, they pulled the notification about the 5.4 million sales in its first month. As of the writing of this article, the reason why Nintendo pulled the information is unknown, but until the reason is found out, we should treat the 5.4 million number as unconfirmed. Was the information pulled because it was inaccurate, or did technical glitches delete it?

Do I Believe It?

Do I personally believe that the 5.4 million number is accurate? While I am not an expert on marketing, I can say through my personal experience fruitlessly trying to order a Nintendo Switch 2 that the system is a definite hot seller. I don’t know if the 5.4 million number is accurate or not, but I know that the Nintendo Switch 2 is sold out everywhere, and scalpers are selling it on eBay for outrageous prices. Whatever the actual sales numbers are, we can safely say that the Switch 2 will be one of Nintendo’s biggest consoles of all time.
