Almost two months have passed since the release of the Edge of Fate. The expansion release has received mixed reviews, with recent impressions leaning towards the negative following proposed changes. Ash and Iron is the first Major update in the new era of Destiny 2. What can we expect in the upcoming weeks for Destiny 2, and what will Ash and Iron bring to hopefully improve player dissatisfaction?
Before players get to experience the Ash and Iron update, they must first participate in Heavy Metal. For players who missed Heavy Metal initially, the event places players in a PvP game mode that uses Brigs and Tanks instead of the traditional gameplay. Heavy Metal runs from September 2nd until September 9th.
Before the release of the Ash and Iron Update, Bungie will host a developer livestream on September 9th, with the exact time yet to be announced. The livestream will showcase the Ash and Iron update as well as more information regarding the upcoming expansion, Renegades, on December 2nd.
As the first Major update in the Year of Prophecy, several changes are coming. The update kicks off with a new event called New Territory that will feature the Plaguelands and a three-player activity titled Reclaim. It will also feature a new Exotic mission and more Exotic weapons for players to acquire. Everything coming with the update is free for all players.

Besides a crossover with Star Wars, we know little about the Renegades expansion. The expansion will release a new dungeon. The upcoming livestream will reveal more information on Renegades.
