Bloodthief, an ultra-fast vampire melee dungeon-runner by solo developer Blargis, first made waves with its original demo on Steam back in April of 2024. In February of the following year, that version of the demo received adjustments, and now fans can look forward to Bloodthief teasing its extended demo during Steam Next Fest. From June 9–16th, 2025, players can access the extended demo and play to their heart’s content.

You can also find Bloodthief’s current demo featured in this week’s Zombies vs Vampires Fest on Steam (running from May 26th to June 2nd). No official release date for the full game has been set.

Engage in Fast-Paced, High-Mobility Gameplay

Inspired by games like Ghostrunner, Ultrakill, and Quake, Bloodthief features fast-paced movement, combat, and parkour-style mobility. It uses quick-moving mechanics to keep players engaged as they slash through wicked enemies, drink their blood, and fuel the powers of the vampiric protagonist. Set to the backdrop of medieval-style dungeons and castles, Bloodthief allows players to maneuver around with high-speed running, jumping, and melee combat.

The game opts for a pixelated art style that favors the gameplay itself over a hyper-realistic setting. The use of minimalism in the art direction allows the game to emphasize what it does best: allow players to move quickly and body through enemies with brutal combat abilities. The lack of super complex graphics allows for a better focus on the actual gameplay. Speedrunners in particular might enjoy this game the most, with all its potential for competitive runs and quick-paced skill expression.

Bloodthief Encourages Players to Explore and Master Its Gameplay

Bloodthief incentivizes proficiency and playing continually to hone your skills. The fast-paced nature of the game forces players to improve to progress, and further encourages players to get better by locking secrets away behind the completion of speedrun levels. Furthermore, the game features alternative paths, shortcuts, and other hidden discoverables that motivate players to be creative and hone their skills.

Hidden powers and different types of loot can also be found scattered throughout its ancient dungeons. The content warning advises potential players to note that the game is combat-based, bloody, and gory.

The Bloodthief Demo & Extended Demo

The February version of Bloodthief’s demo features approximately an hour of gameplay to finish a basic playthrough and up to 20 hours of gameplay for a full completion of the game. It includes 7 levels, 4 swords, 1 special weapon, 5 power-ups, 5 enemy types, and 20 secrets waiting to be discovered. The extended demo adds 1 new level, 1 new weapon, and 3 secret artifacts to build that weapon.

Both demo versions will be available in 9 languages, including (but not limited to) English, Japanese, Chinese, and French.
