Introduced during the 1.6 Main Story Quest, Vivian Banshee is the latest addition to ZZZ’s roster of playable characters. Like her erstwhile partner in crime, Hugo Vlad, and even though she is from a different faction, Mockingbird, Vivian shares Victoria Housekeeping’s theme of being associated with creatures of horror. In her case, as her name suggests, Vivian is based on the wailing woman of Ireland, the banshee. Besides the connection to her surname, Vivian can also see future catastrophes, which causes her to weep openly.
Vivian, an Ether Anomaly S-Rank unit, primarily functions as an Off-Field DMG Support and Anomaly Builder, which are intertwined. Her kit revolves around creating and using Flight Feathers, which are indicated by a series of 5 circles under her Character Portrait.
You can gain Flight Feathers in the following ways: 1 after using a Basic Attack while she is in the Noblewoman state, 2 when entering the battlefield for the first time, 2 for switching in as part of a Chain Attack, 3 for using her EX Special Attack, and 5 for using her Ultimate. To enter the Noblewoman state, you must unleash all four attacks of her Basic Attack string.
Once she has any number of flight feathers, Vivian will rise into the air and hover there for a while. Using a basic attack or switching characters will cause Vivian to dive bomb the nearest enemy and convert all flight feathers into equal numbers of guard feathers. The circles under her Character Portrait indicate this change. When she has Flight Feathers, the circle is open in the middle. When she has Guard Feathers, the circle is solid.
Vivian consumes 1 Guard Feather whenever a party member uses their EX Special Attack to launch a Basic Attack: Featherbloom. This attack has two effects based on whether the enemy suffers from an Attribute Anomaly.
First, it will trigger the Ablooom effect, which deals additional Attribute Anomaly DMG based on the Attribute and the Anomaly Proficiency of the character who originally set off the Attribute Anomaly. So, the more EX Specials you can dish out, the more times this effect will proc.
The second occurs when either Featherbloom or the dive bomb attack that converts Flight Feathers into Guard Feathers hits an enemy suffering from any Attribute Anomaly, they will take Ether DMG every 0.55 seconds until the Attribute Anomaly wears off. Effectively, she poisons them.
Her best W-Engine is, obviously, her own. If you cannot get that, Flamemaker Shaker is a good S-Rank option, if you happen to have one. The standard banner S-Rank W-Engine, Fusion Compiler, is also serviceable. As for A-Ranked options, Electro-Lip Gloss (battle pass) and Weeping Gemini (purchasable from Box Galaxy) are both decent options.
You want Anomaly Proficiency for her Disc Drive 4, Ether DMG for her Disc Drive 5, and either Anomaly Mastery or Energy Regen for her Disc Drive 6 (if you have her W-Engine, she might build Ether Anomaly fast enough for you to switch to ER). Her best Disc Drive set is the Phaethon’s Melody 4-Piece, with either the Freedom Blues or the Chaos Jazz 2-Piece.
Vivian’s Additional Ability only activates when she is on a team with other Anomaly characters or other Ether characters. As such, she can work well with any character that falls into either category.
The additional DMG proc by her Basic Attack: Featherbloom varies depending on the Attribute. From lowest to highest DMG, they are: Physical (Assault), Ice (Freeze), Electric (Shock), Ether (Corruption), Fire (Burn). It would be best to pair her with Fire or Ether characters, like Burnice, Zhu Yuan, Lucy, or Nicole, to optimize her damage.
