Who likes free stuff?!? You do? Then I have good news. It’s Friday Eve, and the Epic Games Store has more free games to add to your library. I checked out this week’s games and have the most important details so you can decide if you need to hurry to the launcher and download them right away.
You know about “Among Us,” right? Well, “Project Winter” is like that, but in a frozen wilderness instead. And the graphics have a unique look, as if everything was made of paper and stuff. It’s a kind of 3D look that makes me really want to play in that world. Now, to convince my friends to claim this game…
In this gem from the Epic Games Store, you’re part of an 8-person group trapped in the wilderness. To escape, you have to work together to achieve objectives until the radio is fixed and help can come to get you. But there are traitors in your midst, and only the traitors know who they are. If you’re one of the survivors, you have to try to figure out who the traitors are before they wreck everything. And traitors, you have to sabotage stuff.
The game includes proximity-based voice chat, private voice chat radio channels, text chat, and emotes. There are multiple game modes, including basic, normal, and custom. And there’s some customization available for your character, too. This one is cross-platform and supports using a controller. So message your friends and get everyone to claim “Project Winter” from the Epic Games Store before September 25, when it goes back to $9.99.
“Samorost 2” is the second freebie this week. And this one is available for both PC and mobile! You play as Samorost, a little space gnome whose home was robbed by aliens! And, not only did they rob you, but they dog-napped your dog! So, of course, you set off in your rocket ship to rescue your beloved friend. You’ll have to get inside the underground lair of the aliens to find him and escape. And that’s not the end of your challenges.
This one is a point-and-click adventure puzzler that will give you somewhere between 30 to 90 minutes of gameplay, depending on your play style. So it’s short, but look at those graphics! It’s adorable. And the idea of going off in search of your doggo? I love it.
“Samarost 2” is normally $4.99 on the Epic Games Store. And, this one is also available for mobile, so don’t forget to claim your copy in the Epic Games mobile app.
While you’re claiming your freebie in the mobile store, you’ll have a second game to claim. “Road Redemption Mobile” is also available for free this week, on mobile only. It’s described as a “post-apocalyptic racing game.” Someone has assassinated the wealthiest arms dealer, and there’s a hefty bounty. You and rival gangs are on the hunt for the killer to claim that bounty. There’s loot to collect, which allows you to customize your motorcycle, character, and weapons. There’s also a skill tree.
Whether you want to play on your PC or your Android (or iOS) device, you can find the download information on the Epic Games Store website. If you’re on a PC, you can download the Epic Games Launcher to access and play your games. I know, I know. That’s not exactly shocking, and you probably figured that out already.
For the mobile games, you’ll need the QR code. Use the camera on your mobile device to scan the QR code, which will direct you to the download page. You will have to enable downloads from other sources. (Other than the native app store, that is.) This app isn’t available on the Google Play Store or the Apple App Store. After installing the app, launch it, sign in, and then scroll down to find the current free game.
And that’s what we have for you this week! Check back next week, and we’ll highlight the new game offerings from the Epic Games Store. We’re staying on top of the latest gaming news, so you don’t have to worry about any FOMO.
Happy gaming!
