Hype surrounding the next installment in the beloved Witcher saga, supposedly called Project Polaris or by now more widely anticipated as “The Witcher 4,” is steadily building. CD Projekt Red is staying tight-lipped about concrete details, but that has not stopped wild fan speculation from running rampant regarding potential features.

One such feature that seems to be quite the talk among the community is the potential borrowing of key aspects from the studio’s other massive RPG, Cyberpunk 2077, to augment the experience. Ironically, one feature many seem to push for.

Cyberpunk Feature for Witcher 4

And this key Cyberpunk 2077 feature gaining ground has nothing to do with futuristic technology or dark urban vibes. The loudness of fans in requesting the introduction of Cyberpunk’s deep character creation and lifepath system in the new entry is unmistakable.

In Cyberpunk 2077, players could very much customize V, from physical appearance down the line to choosing a background: Streetkid, Nomad, or Corpo, which shaped early story beats and dialogue choices. Such a personalized experience is something that the entire Witcher 4 series has never been able to afford with the present protagonist of Geralt of Rivia.

Witcher 4 Fan Demand for Customization

The argument for it to be included in the next game circles around the concept of playing as some new Witcher, possibly from a different school, or one with a customizable backstory. As an article in Game Rant mentions, it is a significant talking point among fans on how Cyberpunk 2077’s character customization, among other features such as side quest design and combat, will influence The Witcher 4.

There are many fan theories on how Geralt’s story is pretty much done, and some wonder if characters like Ciri may become the protagonists, but the broader Witcher universe has its own lore to explore and untapped potential. Assuming it does not get a release till 2027, there are miles to go before fans stop theorizing about it.

Letting players create their own Witcher, define his or her own origins, and customize their appearances would be a refreshing and immersive experience that advances the series’ signature system of choices and consequences. You could think about choosing a school of Witchers, each one with its starting skills or narrative hooks, and then tailoring your character’s look to fit your idea.

Implementing This Witcher 4 Feature

Of course, such a system would have to be balanced into the equation so that it matches well the pre-established tone and lore of the series. Yet, with character customization in Cyberpunk 2077 being so much responsible for player investment, a similar transfer can breathe new life and replayability into the franchise.

With a snowball of excitement scaling for Witcher 4, fans have sent a clear message through their demand for deeper character customization and personalized origins: they want to make their own legends on the Continent.
