The first day of the Worlds Swiss Stage begins today. There are some interesting games, but most are one-sided. The best games to look out for are Vivo Keyd Stars against Team Secret Whales, Hanwha Life Esports versus Anyone’s Legend, and G2 Esports taking on Top Esports. Starting the Swiss Stage with a win does not guarantee a qualification for the Bracket Stage, but it does build confidence.
The early game went in favor of VKS, but after a disastrous Rift Herald fight, the game collapsed around them. Every play thereafter went to TSW as the gold continued to increase. The game ended with just under a 20k gold lead to TSW.

The draft from FNC was suspect. Upset was given Ezreal against a Sion composition. Poby managed to help FNC to a lead, but mistakes from the LEC third seed meant they could not find a route back into the game. CFO closed out comfortably.

The KT rollercoaster has arrived on the international stage. MKOI had a significant advantage, and only mistakes would give KT a chance to win. An overplay into KT’s Orianna and Rumble ultimates meant they lost all their advantage and would go on to lose the game.

Considered one of the most one-sided games of the first round. 100Thieves were given no chance. But as this team has done this year, they defied the odds. The heist began with a dominant performance over the LPL first seed. Every player on 100Thieves stepped up, while all the BLG members did not perform.

Before the game, Keria warned FlyQuest that if he got Bard, he would not allow Inspired to exist on the rift. FlyQuest allowed the best Bard in the world to get his champion. FlyQuest managed to stay in the game for some time, but the writing was on the wall for the vast majority of the game. Oner had a jungle gap over Inspired.

Viper did everything he could in this game to push HLE over the line. However, one failed engagement from Delight led to AL getting Baron. Kael managed to steal the Hextech Drake off Viper to get the Hextech Soul. Viper continued to fight valiantly, but with Baron and Elder Drake up on the rift, HLE were forced to fight and ultimately lost.

G2’s draft meant that they were playing for the late game. None of the lanes were winning, and neither was jungle. G2 pulled the early swap, but they only managed to stem the bleeding. The only G2 player that showed up to the game was Caps, who managed to find JackeyLove multiple times. It was too late as TES closed out a comfortable victory.
Player of the Game – Kanavi
PSG had some moments of fighting back against the tournament favorites. Kiin was the target of PSG, and he had one of the weakest performances of the year. He was not bad, which shows the level of Kiin. Despite the fight, GenG managed to control the game from start to finish.
Player of the Game – Ruler
The majority of the results went as expected, with 100T beating BLG as the only upset. It was a massive upset, and it has thrown a curveball for the rest of the Swiss Stage. The eight game-winning teams will be drawn against each other, while the losing teams face off.
