Worlds 2025: T1 Versus TES: Can TES Break the T1 Curse?

Heading into the Worlds Bracket Stage, Anyone’s Legend was the best LPL team. But the dreams of AL came crashing down. They fell at the hands of T1, the LPL Killers, in the Quarterfinals. Now the hope of China and the LPL rests on the shoulders of Top Esports. TES is a team that has fans who rarely believe in, given their recent international results. They must now do what no LPL team has done before: defeat T1 in a Best-of-Five. Invictus Gaming and AL have failed, will TES succeed where they could not?

Worlds 2025: T1 Versus Top Esports Schedule

The final Semi-Finals match begins at 12:00 AM PT (8:00 AM CET). Will T1 defeat another LPL opponent to set up a battle with KT Rolster in the Telecom War?

Worlds 2025: T1 Versus Top Esports Head-to-Head and Match History

T1 and TES have not faced each other once in 2025. Their previous meetings came at Worlds 2024. They played each other in the first game of the Swiss Stage and the Quarterfinals. TES won in the Swiss Stage match, but fell 3-0 in the Bracket Stage. Seven of the ten players from those matches will participate in the series.

TES had a relatively comfortable victory over G2 Esports to reach the Semi-Finals. On the other hand, T1 had to fight in a nail-biter against AL.

Key Champion Picks

Azir and Bard should remain on the ban list for the duration of the series. We saw AL free up the Bard ban to tempt T1 into picking it, but T1 did not. Azir stayed banned for the five games. Another champion on the ban list should be Yunara. Teams have been unwilling to let her through during the Bracket Stage, and it is unlikely that it will change.

Kanavi’s Qiyana should be a concern for T1. He is proficient on the champion, and it might be a point of concern. Against AL and Tarzan, T1 allowed them to pick her in game one; they might employ the same strategy against TES.

International Chokers Versus International Clutch Factors

TES and T1 are perceived in opposing lights when it comes to international events. TES underperforms while T1 overperforms. If history repeats itself in this series, it might be over before it begins. Even though T1 beat AL, they are not as dominant as peak GenG. However, the clutch from every player on this roster is evident. Look no further than Faker and Gumayusi in Game Five, playing out fights perfectly to win T1 the series.

Gumayusi the Stalwart Carry

Even when Gumayusi has had weaker performances at this Worlds, he still manages to deliver for T1. After struggling to make an impact in games two and three against AL, he kicked into a higher gear. He gave a carry performance on Kai’Sa, a champion he is not proficient on, and then followed it up with a clutch Ashe performance. T1 can always rely on Gumayusi, and with the rest of the pieces falling into place around him, T1 might be unstoppable.

T1 3-1 TES

TES played a comfortable and dominant macro game against G2. But they are unlikely to get that against T1. The LCK fourth seed will fight TES for everything, and often does not make mistakes while firing on all cylinders. TES punished G2’s errors in the series, which is what earned them a victory. The T1 plot armor is clearly still evident; otherwise, they would not have defeated AL. A win for TES may be a bigger upset than KT beating GenG.

A Grand Finals Spot

A win would give T1 their fourth consecutive appearance in the Worlds Finals. TES, on the other hand, has never made it to that stage of the competition. The victor will face the KT rollercoaster to lift the Summoner’s Cup on November 9th.
