Kuro Games is ushering in the next chapter of Wuthering Waves in January 2025 with the launch of version 2.0 on PC, iOS, Android, and PS5.
Update 2.0 comes with substantial additions to the game in the form of a new region, some fresh mechanics and equipment, and characters. The first two newcomers from the Rinascita’s ranks will be Carlotta, the scion of one of the nation’s leading noble houses, and Roccia, a young and talented performer carrying a ghostly companion in a suitcase.

Wuthering Waves 2.0 banners: Phase 1
In version 2.0, the limited banners will contain the following characters from January 2 to 23, 2025:
- Carlotta (5-Star, Glacio, Pistols), Chixia (4-Star, Fusion, Pistols), Sanhua (4-Star, Glacio, Sword), and Mortefi (4-Star, Fusion, Pistols)
- Zhezhi (5-Star, Glacio, Rectifier), Chixia (4-Star, Fusion, Pistols), Sanhua (4-Star, Glacio, Sword), and Mortefi (4-Star, Fusion, Pistols)
Carlotta
Carlotta is the first limited Pistols-wielder in the game and will be a powerful damage dealer that can act as the centerpiece of a party – she’s all about whirling around her enemies and keeping up a barrage of shots.
Zhezhi
Zhezhi is a genius artist as well as menace on the battlefield: She’s capable of quickly blinking around in combat and summoning spirits that execute Coordinated Attacks while she’s off-field.
Chixia
Chixia is a ranged damage dealer mainly useful for free-to-play users in combat – most of the other DPS units easily outclass her. She’s also useful for exploration, though additional copies are unnecessary for her to carry out her duties in this regard.
Sanhua
Sanhua is an excellent Sub DPS for some characters, among them Encore and Rover (Havoc). She can be quite the big get if you’re failing to extract the best possible performance from your Main DPS.
Mortefi
Mortefi is a strong Sub DPS Resonator for any character synergizing with Coordinated Attacks. Although his role has been somewhat usurped since launch, he’s still the most affordable unit fitting that profile.
Wuthering Waves 2.0 banners: Phase 2
Phase 2, which runs from January 23 to February 13, 2025, provides the following characters:
- Roccia (5-Star, Havoc, Gauntlets), Youhu (4-Star, Glacio, Gauntlets), Danjin (4-Star, Havoc, Sword), and Yuanwu (4-Star, Electro, Gauntlets)
- Jinhsi (5-Star, Spectro, Broadblade), Youhu (4-Star, Glacio, Gauntlets), Danjin (4-Star, Havoc, Sword), and Yuanwu (4-Star, Electro, Gauntlets)
Roccia
Roccia and her ghostly companion are a strong duo on and off stage – Roccia is a great DPS by her own rights, pulling enemies in and then unleashing a wave of strong punches or one charged up strike. She also contributes Havoc DMG amplification for the next Resonator, giving her some support utility.
Jinhsi
Jinhsi is a damage dealer with immense combat strength, especially when paired up with allies who can execute Coordinated Attacks from off-field, as this will allow her to use her full toolkit.
Youhu
Youhu is one of those rivals fighting for Mortefi’s position: She comes with Coordinated Attacks and excels at disrupting the enemy, making her a great companion for many Resonators.
Danjin
Danjin has proven herself to be a versatile pick-up and can act as a team’s Main DPS or support fellow Havoc-type Resonators as a Sub DPS – which makes her especially useful in combination with Rover (Havoc) and, of course, Camellya.
Yuanwu
Yuanwu can be a useful addition to any character synergizing with Coordinated Attacks, but he’s already been usurped by several other Resonators filling a similar niche – and doing it better.

Fever Coach Stephanie White Has Given One Player the Green Light Amid Caitlin Clark's Injury
Caitlin Clark is expected to sit out for a fourth straight game on Sunday when the Indiana Fever take on the Chicago Sky in a much-awaited rivalry matchup. The 23-year-old is still dealing with a reaggravated groin strain and has no timetable to return. The rest of her Fever teammates have had to step up in her absence. There is, perhaps, no other player who has taken a bigger role on the offensive end amid Clark’s injury spell than three-time All-Star Kelsey Mitchell. Mitchell, however, struggled with her shot in Thursday’s win against the Las Vegas Aces. The 5-foot-8 guard shot the ball poorly in the first three quarters, going just 4-of-19 from the field for 12 points. Mitchell caught fire in the fourth, though. She went 4-of-5 in the final frame for nine points, finishing with a game-high 21 points on 8-of-24 shooting. This is exactly why head coach Stephanie White remains completely confident in Mitchell’s scoring ability. The veteran coach has made it clear that she has given Mitchell the green light to shoot the rock. “The biggest thing with Kelsey is just telling her, ‘Let it fly.’ It’s going to go,” White said after Thursday’s win against Las Vegas. "... Keep shooting it from outside. She made some big ones when we needed them.” Kelsey Mitchell Has Stepped up Amid Clark's Injury Mitchell has answered the call for the Fever of late. In the three games Clark has been sidelined, Mitchell has put up averages of 22.0 points on 42.9% shooting. She also knocked down 2.7 triples during that stretch on a 34.8% clip. The 29-year-old veteran will need to keep her foot on the gas on Sunday as the Fever try to take down the Sky at United Center. With Clark watching from the bench, the Fever will rely on Mitchell’s scoring against Chicago as they look to improve on their 13-12 record. The Fever and Sky meet at 3 p.m. ET Sunday on ABC.

Ryne Sandberg’s health was worst-kept secret at HOF induction weekend
Ryne Sandberg died on Monday at 65 after battling prostate cancer. His death came a day after the 2025 class was inducted into the Baseball Hall of Fame. Apparently the former second baseman’s health status was the worst-kept secret over the weekend. MLB Network reporter Jon Morosi said on X that Wade Boggs had cried when mentioning Sandberg during an interview with Morosi recently. Boggs had cried because he knew his Hall of Fame classmate of 2005 was in declining health. Veteran MLB reporter Jayson Stark said that there was sadness around Cooperstown as people prepared to hear the news about Sandberg. Sandberg played in Major League Baseball for 16 seasons from 1981-97. He played 15 seasons with the Chicago Cubs and became a beloved figure in the city. Sandberg earned 10 All-Star selections, nine Gold Glove Awards, and seven Silver Slugger Awards while in Chicago. Sandberg also was named National League MVP in 1984 and led the NL with 40 home runs in the 1990 season. Sandberg first announced in January 2024 that he had been diagnosed with metastatic prostate cancer. A positive development then followed in August when Sandberg revealed that tests had detected no more cancer in his body following treatment. However, Sandberg announced just a few months later that his cancer had returned. Additionally, Sandberg revealed that the cancer had spread to his other organs as well. After retiring as a player, Sandberg was inducted into the Baseball Hall of Fame in 2005, his third year on the ballot. He also had his No. 23 retired by the Cubs later that year and briefly had a stint from 2013-15 as manager of the Philadelphia Phillies, Sandberg’s first MLB team.
Green Bay Packers’ Woes Pile Up as Troubling Trend Continued on Monday
The return of Elgton Jenkins on Monday has excited the Green Bay Packers and his fans. Expected to play center after spending most of his career as a left guard, a role that he performed so well he earned a couple of Pro Bowl nods. The hope is that Jenkins will continue to shine as the Packers’ starting center, especially with the struggles the others are having filling that role in training camp, particularly with snapping the ball to the quarterback. That was highlighted anew on Monday, when tight end Tyler Kraft was hit by a snap while on the move behind the line of scrimmage. Packers having trouble in camp snapping the ball The Packers’ trouble with snapping appears to be a growing concern for the team, one that they should clean up as the 2025 NFL season approaches. Via Matt Schneidman of The Athletic: “The Packers continue having issues snapping the ball. In recent days, the culprit has been reserve center Trey Hill. On Monday, one Sean Rhyan snap hit Kraft in motion before falling to the ground and another drifted left of Love before hitting the grass. On that play, Love recovered and launched a prayer down the left sideline to Golden, who did well to cut in front of Hobbs and make sure the pass fell incomplete.” Perhaps rust has played a part in those botched snaps, with the Packers training camp not even a week removed from when it started. In any case, improvement in that area will have to show sooner rather than later.
Bruins' David Pastrnak Calls Out Canadiens' Juraj Slafkovsky: He Just Lacks Humility'
Juraj Slafkovsky is one of the most promising players in the NHL, but now he has been called out by David Pastrnak, who stated he lacks humility. After being picked No. 1 overall in 2022 NHL Draft, expectations were high in Montreal for young star Juraj Slafkovsky, and thus far, he's shown glimpses of being the elite level player many expected when he entered the National Hockey League. However, there are still some major steps to go, and in a recent interview, Boston Bruins star David Pastrnak pointed out perhaps one area where the 21-year old may need to improve moving forward. When asked about Slafkovsky and his potential, Pastrnak gave nothing but a glowing review of the young Canadiens star, but he did note that he believes Slafkovsky needs more humility. 'He's still a young player who is gaining experience in the NHL every year. This season it was already clear that he gave the team more than before...He just needs a little more humility, he should set an example for the young ones.' On the ice, there's no doubting that Slafkovsky has the presence, the size and the talent to be a true star, posting 101 total points over the past two seasons, but for whatever reason, it appears as though Pastrnak believes he needs to improve off the ice before he can take a major leap in Montreal. Ultimately, the talent is still there for Slafkovsky, and at 21-years old, he'll continue to learn off the ice, and if he can go anywhere close to living up to the potential that he's shown in his first three years at the NHL level, there's no doubt that he can be a big time star and help lead the Canadiens to significant post-season success.
