Wuthering Waves – Why You Should Pick Verina

Wuthering Waves gives players their 5-star Resonator of choice in the Beginner Banner. Here’s why (and why not) you should pick Verina as your free 5-star Resonator in Wuthering Waves.

Why pick Verina?

Verina is a 5-star Spectro Rectifier character. She is a very reliable healer and fills that role solidly. Verina is one of five choices you have in the 5-star character selector upon completing the Beginner Banner. The Beginner Banner is a discounted banner, where players can draw 50 times. Players can obtain a random 5-star standard character, and upon finishing the 50 draws, they will be able to choose in the selector.

The choices are Jianxin, Calcharo, Verina, Lingyang, and Encore.

Basic Attack – Cultivation

Basic Attack

  • Verina performs up to 5 consecutive attacks with vines, dealing Spectro DMG.

Heavy Attack

  • Verina consumes Stamina to charge forward, dealing Spectro DMG.

Mid-air Attack

  • Verina consumes Stamina to perform up to 3 consecutive attacks in mid-air, dealing Spectro DMG.

Mid-air Heavy Attack

  • Hold Basic Attack to consume Stamina and perform mid-air Plunging Attack, dealing Spectro DMG.

Dodge Counter

  • Use Basic Attack after a successful Dodge, to attack the target, dealing Spectro DMG.

Resonance Skill – Botany Experiment

Verina converges an energy field in front to grow foliage, dealing Spectro DMG within the range.

Resonance Liberation – Arboreal Flourish

Verina nourishes nearby foliage at rapid speed, dealing Spectro DMG while restoring HP to all team members nearby. A Photosynthesis Mark is applied to the target on hit.

Photosynthesis Mark

  • Whenever a team member nearby performs an attack on targets with a Photosynthesis Mark, Verina performs a Coordinated Attack, dealing Spectro DMG while restoring HP to the party members dealing damage, triggered once per second.

Verina is an incredibly reliable healer and, as of the release version of Wuthering Waves, she is the best healer in the game. Her Resonance Liberation requires minimal on-field time while still allowing constant healing.

Considering all of these gameplay factors, you should choose Verina if:

  1. You need a healer. She is the best healer in the game right now.
  2. You have a Calcharo or another main DPS who wants as much on-field time as possible.
  3. You are rushing to end-game content. You will need a reliable healer for this and she is the best choice.

Other factors that would make you want to choose Verina for your 5-star selector:

  1. You like Verina’s character design.
  2. You find her gameplay enjoyable.

Why you should not choose Verina

Verina is one of the best characters in the game, given her reliable healing. However, this does not mean that she is the only healer in the game. Baizhi is a free 4-star character who fills the healer role, too. The first form of the Rover we get is also Spectro, and having two Spectro characters in the party comes with its own drawbacks. Thus, you shouldn’t choose her as your free 5-star Resonator if:

  1. You are satisfied with your healing from Baizhi or other characters.
  2. You use Rover – Spectro in your party and do not want two Spectro characters.
  3. You already have her; her Resonance Chain is not worth it.
  4. You do not mind waiting for future healers in upcoming updates.

Of course, the preference-related reasons are valid as well:

  1. You do not like Verina’s character design.
  2. You do not like her gameplay.
  3. You prefer other characters in the free 5-star selector.

Wuthering Waves is now live on Windows, Android, iOS, PlayStation 4, and PlayStation 5.
