No. 9 Texas volleyball left its weekend road trip with a reminder of how quickly momentum can shift in conference play.

After rallying past Arkansas in four sets Friday night, the Longhorns were swept by the Oklahoma Sooners on Sunday in Norman, snapping a three-match winning streak and giving the Sooners their first home victory over Texas since 2011.

The split leaves Texas at 8-6 overall and 4-2 in Southeastern Conference play as it prepares to return for its next match Friday against Auburn.

Against the Razorbacks, senior outside hitter Torrey Stafford powered the offense with a season-high 29 kills, hitting .348 while adding 13 digs for her sixth double-double of the season. Senior libero Ramsey Gary anchored the defense with 33 digs, setting a Texas rally-scoring era record and recording the second-most digs in program history.

The victory extended Texas' winning streak to three matches and appeared to provide momentum heading into its rivalry matchup with Oklahoma.

Instead, the Sooners delivered one of their biggest blows of the season.

Oklahoma, coming off a five-set upset of Texas A&M earlier in the week, carried that momentum into Howard McCasland Field House on Sunday. The Sooners defeated the Longhorns 25-23, 25-18, 30-28, earning their second consecutive victory over a top-15 opponent.

The loss was particularly notable given Texas' recent dominance in the matchup. The Longhorns entered Sunday having won two consecutive meetings with Oklahoma and 23 of the 24 previous encounters.

Stafford again led Texas offensively, finishing with 17 kills while hitting .346. Freshman outside hitter Henley Anderson added 12 kills, eight digs and four blocks, continuing a stretch of consistent production with double-digit kills.

The Sooners hit .318 as a team, compared with Texas' .245, and finished with a 48-42 advantage in kills.

The road trip highlighted the importance of Texas' defensive and offensive balance. Gary's record-setting performance helped the Longhorns survive extended rallies against Arkansas, while Oklahoma's higher hitting percentage and advantage in kills proved decisive on Sunday.

Texas will now have several days to regroup before returning home to face Auburn at 6:30 p.m. Friday. With the loss in Norman ending its winning streak, the Longhorns will look to regain their footing in SEC play and turn the lessons from the road into a stronger performance in front of their home crowd.
