Before the second quarter Aces guard Jackie Young said, “We have to get inside. We need to be a little bit more physical.”
To start the second quarter, the Mystics went big in their lineup, which gave them a bit of an advantage. Shakira Austin, Kiki Iriafen, and Sonia Citron kept answering to every Aces run. Going into the half, the Aces were down 53-44.
The Aces started the second half with turnovers and missed shots. The Mystics began to capitalize off of both elements. With under 8:30 left in the game, the Aces mounted a comeback but ran out of time and gas in the fourth quarter.
Both Chelsea Gray and Jackie Young finished the game with 13 points each, while A’ja Wilson finished with 22 points.
In the post-game presser, in regards to the Mystic’s hot shooting, Dana Evans said, “Everybody has a great game against us.”
Chelsea Gray followed up saying, “We gotta be better defensively.”
