After a thrilling, last second victory over the Washington Mystics, 75-72 on Friday night at home, the Las Vegas Aces are looking to go 3-1 as they head to Seattle to take on the Storm on Sunday afternoon at 3pm PT.
There are multiple story lines coming into this game for the Aces.
Not only does Jewell Loyd face her old team, former Aces teammate Alysha Clark, who was apart of the 2023 championship squad and won Sixth Player of the Year in 2023. While with the Aces, Clark was the only player to appear in all 40 games in 2024.
On the Aces side of the court, Jewell Loyd makes her first appearance since being traded to the Aces in the offseason. Loyd spent 10 years with the Storm from 2015-2024.
The Aces are 47-44 all-time against the Storm and 19-28 on the road in Seattle. The Aces did win the 2024 season series, 3-1, and swept Seattle 2-0 in the playoffs.
In Friday’s last second win over the Washington Mystics, Jewell Loyd sunk the clinching three-pointer that gave the Aces a narrow escape.
With A’ja Wilson’s 5 assists against the Mystics, she became the sixth player in WNBA history to record at least 4,500 points, 2,000 rebounds, 500 assists, 400 blocks and 200 steals. Wilson needs just two more rebounds to pass Chamique Holdsclaw with 2,126 rebounds.
The Aces went 24.2% from the three-point line, which is uncharacteristically low for them.
The Seattle Storm (2-1) come into this game after a 77-70 win over Phoenix on Friday night. Leading the charge in the win were forward Nneka Ogwumike and guard Skylar Diggins, who scored game-highs of 24 points apiece.
Diggins also led the Storm with a career-high 14 assists, which puts her atop the league as the highest number of assists in a game thus far this season.
The Aces will be back at home against the Los Angeles Sparks on Friday, May 30 at 7pm PT.
