Aces rebound with a huge win over Dallas on Sunday

The Las Vegas Aces entered today’s a game against the Dallas Wings after a disparaging loss to Minnesota Friday.

Both teams got off to a quick start. A’ja Wilson dished out her first assist of the game to Kierstan Bell, who pulled up from 19-feet to sink the jumper to give the Aces an early lead, 2-0.

The Aces made almost every opportunity to make their way to the free-throw line. To close out the first quarter, both teams were tied 27-27.

To open the second half, Las Vegas continued to add to their lead. At the 2:34 mark of the third quarter, the Aces held a 66-57 lead.

Aces spark Dana Evans made her way to the line to go 1-for-2 for her first time at the line of the second half to give the Aces a 10-point lead with under 3 minutes left in the third quarter.

With 50 second left in the third quarter, Jewell Loyd came up big with a three-pointer to add to the Aces lead, 73-58.

In the fourth quarter, the Aces continued their consistent play. Jackie Young and Jewell Loyd took over to start the quarter. Loyd went straight to the charity stripe after drawing the foul. Jackie Young went straight at the hoop and drew the foul on the next play.

Jackie Young came down the lane with a floater, A’ja Wilson followed with a big block on DiJonai Carrington.

The Aces rebound with a commanding 106-80 win over the Dallas Wings. The Aces are now 13-13.

Jackie Young led the Aces, scoring 24 points, 3-for-3 from the charity stripe, went 8/11 from the floor, and dished out 8 assists. The Aces did much better shooting from the floor this game, shooting 48.6% from the floor and 41.7% from three-point range.

The win was Aces coach Becky Hammon’s 100th win as head coach. In the post-game presser, Aces coach Becky Hammon said, “I think it was, one of the toughest things is going through hard things and remaining optimistic.”

“A good all around team win,” Hammon continued.

Up next, the Aces continue their road trip as they head to Los Angeles to take on the Sparks on Tuesday, July 29 at 7pm PT.
