The Las Vegas Aces (8-8) and Indiana Fever (8-8) meet in the WNBA tonight. Tipoff is set for 7:00 p.m. EDT at the Gainbridge Fieldhouse in Indianapolis, Indiana. The game will broadcast live on Amazon Prime Video.
The Aces are 4.5-point favorites over the Fever on the spread (Aces -4.5), with the over/under set at 162.5 total points. Las Vegas is a -190 favorite to win outright, while Indiana is +155 to pull off the upset.
Let’s get into my Aces vs. Fever predictions and WNBA picks for Thursday, July 3.
The Aces face off against the Fever, who are fresh off their Commissioner’s Cup victory over the Lynx on Tuesday night.
However, this also puts the Fever at a distinct rest disadvantage, considering the Aces last played on Sunday.
The biggest question is once again whether Caitlin Clark (groin) will play today. She has now missed three games in a row, including the Cup Final as the team is cautious with her health.
These two teams have been underwhelming this season. They are both 8-8 but the Fever have a better Net Rating +5.5 compared to the Aces’ -1.4.
Without Clark, the Fever see a 7-point dip in their scoring per 100 possessions which aligns with the eye test for this squad, per pbp stats.
A’ja Wilson has not quite looked like herself this season. She’s only averaging 21.6 points per game this season but she did score 24 in her latest matchup against the Fever.
She’s generally had success against them as well, clearing her 22.5 points prop in four of her last five against them.
When these two teams played a few weeks ago, the Aces won 89-81 and that was with Clark putting up a 19-point double-double.
Considering the rest advantage and the clear letdown spot for the Fever, I’ll back the Aces in this spot and pair it with A’ja to score 20 points.
