When the icons drop their best, the rest usually watches. And that is exactly how things are with A’ja Wilson and Kelsey Plum this season. Playing with a lot of purpose and determination, both WNBA stars are on a positive surge. Already, the duo seems to be running their own league.
Wilson’s recent friendly banter with her boyfriend had all the fans laughing. But for her opponents, well, laughing does not seem to be the order of the day. It has only been five games till now, and both Plum and Wilson have accumulated a ton of points. Literally.
These two aren’t just hooping.

They are making WNBA history.

Making history, the Los Angeles Sparks’ star and the Las Vegas Aces’ icon are now the only WNBA players to have 120+ points with more than 55% shooting in the first five games. While Plum has averaged 123 points with an elite shooting of 56.4% from the field, Wilson averaged 125 with a 59.5% shooting from the field.
And that’s not all. The 2026 WNBA MVP also dropped a stellar show in her game against the Connecticut Sun.
Last year, head coach Becky Hammon compared Wilson to LeBron James and Michael Jordan. Trying to defend their title this year, the 29-year-old star is making sure that she reaches an elite level within the league. Earlier this month, squaring off against the Connecticut Sun, Las Vegas won 101-94.
But the highlight was solely on the 2025 WNBA champion. Logging in for 32 minutes, the star player dropped 45 points, three rebounds and three assists to lead her team to glory.
Likewise, coming face-to-face with the Aces, Plum made sure that she held the upper hand over Wilson. As Los Angeles won 101-95, the 31-year-old chimed in for 38 points to take the game away.
Thus, with both stars looking in stellar form, fans will be eager to know what’s next. And if such a form continues for both, the 30th WNBA season will be in for some special treat.
