The Las Vegas Aces not only extended their winning streak to 12 games and climbed to No. 2 in the WNBA standings against Brittney Griner and the Atlanta Dream on Wednesday. They also saw A'ja Wilson make history in the process.
Wilson led the way for Las Vegas in the 81-75 victory, recording 34 points on 13-of-21 shooting. She also shot 6-of-8 from the free-throw line and grabbed nine rebounds in the dominant performance.
With that, Wilson climbed the WNBA's all-time list on free throws made. She entered the game with 1,435 made shots from the charity stripe, just five behind Katie Smith (1,440) for the ninth spot.
The WNBA highlighted her achievement in a post after the game, writing, "A’ja Wilson moves past Katie Smith (1,440) to climb into 9th all-time on the WNBA free throw list. Her milestone comes as the @LVAces notch their 12th straight win, taking down the Dream 81–75!"

For what it's worth, it wasn't only on offense that Wilson made her presence known. She was also a defensive force for the Aces, registering a game-high four blocks along with a steal.
In particular, the three-time WNBA MVP made life hard for Griner, whom she rejected twice in the contest.

There were plenty of concerns surrounding the Aces when they got off to a poor start in the first half of the season. They were only 11-11 in the first 22 games, making it look like they would be competing for the lower seeds in the WNBA standings.
Fast forward to a month later, and they are now the second seed. Since the All-Star break, the Aces have also lost just three times, looking more like the team that won the championship in back-to-back years in 2022 and 2023.
With four games left in the regular season, the Aces certainly look ready for a strong playoff run. Everything is clicking for them, as they rank third in offensive rating and sixth in defensive rating in their last 18 games.
Amid their 12-game winning streak, the Aces are first on offense and third on defense.
Sure enough, Wilson and the Aces are looking more like title contenders as the postseason approaches.
