The Las Vegas Aces failed to win their third straight WNBA championship last year, but this year, they're hoping to return to the mountaintop.
They improved to 2-1 on Friday with a 75-72 win over the Washington Mystics. Three-time All-Star guard Jackie Young led the way with 25 points, five rebounds, three assists, two steals and one block.
A'ja Wilson didn't have a good outing. She shot just 5-of-13 from the field and scored only 15 points, but she did contribute 12 rebounds, five assists, three blocks and two steals.
That stat line put her above 500 assists for her career, and she responded with a quip on social media.
"...and my lil yea yea says I don't pass," the caption read.

Wilson has never been known for her passing, as she has a career average of just 2.2 assists a game.
But she has been known as a major scoring threat who is also a force defensively and on the boards. She has won three WNBA regular-season MVP awards, including one last year, as well as two Defensive Player of the Year awards, and she has been selected to the All-Star game in six of her previous seven seasons.
The 6-foot-4 center was named the MVP of the 2023 finals when she led the Aces to their second straight league championship.
Prior to being the No. 1 pick in the 2018 draft, she was the AP Player of the Year and the winner of the John R. Wooden Award and the Naismith College Player of the Year award in 2018 while at South Carolina. The year before that, she led the school to the women's NCAA championship.
