In the Tuesday’s game against the New York Liberty, Aces MVP A’ja Wilson suffered a right wrist injury at the 4:13 mark in the second quarter. Wilson tried to play through the pain for just a few more minutes.

Wilson suffered the injury on a hard drive to the basket. She subbed out at 2:22 and did not return to the game.

With the WNBA All-Star game just a short 10 days away, Wilson was selected by captain Caitlin Clark yesterday. WNBA fans are on pins and needles to hear an update on Wilson.

The timing couldn’t be worse for Wilson.

In the post-game presser following the loss, Hammon said that Wilson would undergo an MRI on her right wrist.

Hammon also said, “Big picture, our season is bigger than one game. We want to make sure she’s good to go,”

“She didn’t want us to play defense without having to hit anybody for 4 1/2 minutes. That’s what she was thinking,” Hammon explained why Wilson stayed in the game even though she had been injured.

Wilson’s MRI results have not been made available yet, Wilson tweeted an encouraging message from her X account saying, “Nothing wakes you up like the sound of an MRI Machine, but I just want to say thank you for all the prayers! NYL, thank you so much for the quick help and privacy, and thanks to my squad for preventing my crash out. God has a plan. We’re gonna be alright!”

Wilson will most likely miss the Aces’ next game. The MRI should provide results in the next few days.

It remains to be seen if Wilson will be available for the All-Star game on July 19.
