While A’ja Wilson and the Las Vegas Aces are currently searching for answers after losing Game One of the semifinals to the Indiana Fever on Sunday, the superstar still earned a fantastic accomplishment.

Before tipoff, the WNBA announced that Wilson had won her league-record fourth MVP title for the 2025 season. It is also the first time since Cynthia Cooper in 1997 and 1998 that a player has won consecutive MVP awards. Wilson’s strong play was a catalyst for the Aces to dominate the second half of the regular season, and the team is hoping she can turn it back on in time to get back in the series against the Fever and make their third Finals appearance in four years.

On top of all that, Wilson’s unprecedented accomplishment has placed her on the pantheon of the greatest players to ever play the sport.

Wilson has achieved a feat that very few NBA players have reached.

In a post shared by the WNBA’s official Facebook page, Wilson is only the fourth player across both the NBA and WNBA to win four MVP awards before reaching the age of 30.

The three other players are basketball royalty: Hall of Famers Bill Russell and Kareem Abdul-Jabbar and future first-ballot Hall of Famer LeBron James.

Between the four, they have won a total of 23 championships and 19 MVP awards. They have emerged as the most dominant players in their respective eras, as well as some of the greatest players to ever play the game of basketball. With her dominance throughout her career, Wilson has earned the right to be mentioned among such venerable names in the history of basketball.

James himself even took to Instagram to congratulate Wilson on the accomplishment.

Wilson is not only earning her place as the greatest WNBA player of all time, but deserves to be mentioned as one of the best to ever play the game of basketball.
