Caitlin Clark has been ruled out for the ninth time this season as the Indiana Fever prepare to face A’ja Wilson and the Las Vegas Aces on Thursday night.
Clark suffered a groin injury on June 24 against the Seattle Storm, causing her to miss the next four games. Prior to that, the former Iowa point guard was sidelined for five games with a quad injury.
Still, despite all the time missed, Clark was named a WNBA All-Star starter for the second time in her two-year career. Joining Clark among the starters is her Indiana teammate, Aliyah Boston.
Clark and Minnesota Lynx forward Napheesa Collier received more fan votes than any other players, earning them the honor of serving as All-Star Game captains. As captains, Clark and Collier will draft their teams, beginning with the pool of starters.
On Wednesday, one day after winning the Commissioner’s Cup Championship, Boston spoke to the media during the Fever’s practice availability. She was asked about being an All-Star starter for the first time.
"Yeah, it's super special," Boston said. "You don't take any moment being an All-Star for granted. I'm super thankful for everyone that voted. I think it's just such a great opportunity... especially with it being in Indy this year, I think it's going to be pretty awesome."
Then, when a reporter noted that Clark will have the opportunity to select her in the upcoming All-Star draft, the former South Carolina forward responded with a smile.
“That’s what I’m saying," Boston said. "I mean, I won’t even put a word in, but I just, you know, we’ll see what she does.”

Boston has been one of Indiana's top players to begin 2025. She is averaging 15.9 points, 8.2 rebounds and 3.6 assists in 30.1 minutes per game.
The Fever will host the Aces on Thursday at 7:00 p.m. ET on Prime Video.
