Angel Reese Addresses Postgame Interviews and League Rules

Atlanta Dream signing Angel Reese is firm regarding her stance on the post-game interviews with reporters. Appearing on the IMO podcast with co-hosts Craig Robinson and former First Lady Michelle Obama, she discussed her thoughts on the media.

Reese admitted she would rather take a fine than speak to reporters after games.

“The media has not always been great for me. And I’ll take a fine. I’ll catch a fine, especially in the WNBA. I’ll have a fine before I have to go to media and feel like my back is against the wall.”

Under the latest historic collective bargaining agreement (CBA), ratified just last month between the league and the WNBPA, all players are expected to be available for postgame media interviews. Skipping interviews can now result in $10,000 fines. It looks like Reese does not mind choosing the latter.

Back in October 2025, Reese had expanded on this. She believes the media takes her words out of context, even being terrified about what they would ask her before the game. However, with reporters, such as Taylor Rooks, whom Reese feels comfortable with, talking to the media isn’t as daunting.

Obama agreed and praised Reese for her attitude. “You are handling yourself beautifully,” Obama said. “I mean, it’s not just what you do, but the way you carry yourself. Girl, I mean, it is really a joy to watch you manage it all, and you do it with a smile on your face with an excellent attitude.”

Reese replied, “Thank you, so I am just honored to be coming from you. The Queen, the Queen, the Queen.”

Angel Reese Does Not Let Outside Noises Get the Best of Her

Reese spent her first two WNBA seasons with the Chicago Sky, and to say the team underperformed would be an understatement. The Sky did not qualify for the playoffs in either of the 2024 or 2025 seasons.
