Angel Reese and the Chicago Sky suffered their third straight loss and eighth over the last 10 games, bowing to the Phoenix Mercury on Thursday, 83-79.
Despite the defeat in what is already a lost season for the franchise, the Sky found a reason to celebrate, thanks to Reese. The 23-year-old All-Star forward finished with a monster stat line of 15 points and 20 rebounds, along with four assists and two blocks, to keep Chicago competitive in the game.
With her performance, Reese also climbed up the Sky's all-time rebounding leaderboard. She entered the game with 780 boards, 19 behind Kahleah Copper (799) for No. 5 on the list. As a result, she officially cracked the top five of the aforementioned list.
The Sky were quick to celebrate Reese's achievement, posting a congratulatory message on social media to highlight her record.
"WELCOME TO THE TOP 5, ANGEL!" the Sky wrote. "With her 800th board, she officially passes Kahleah Copper to enter the top 5 rebounders in franchise history."

Sylvia Fowles holds Chicago's total rebounds record with 1,832. It's worth noting, however, that she achieved the record in seven seasons with the Sky.
Considering Reese's current pace, she is well on track to surpass Fowles' record within the next three seasons.
Reese is already in the top five in Sky history in terms of offensive rebounds. In fact, she tied Candice Dupree for No. 3 on the specific list after her latest performance. She had eight offensive boards on Thursday and increased her overall tally to 284, just three shy of surpassing Tamera Young for the second spot.
In terms of defensive rebounds, Reese surpassed Stefanie Dolson at No. 9 and actually tied Elena Delle Donne for No. 8 with 516 defensive boards.
