Angel Reese dodges WNBA suspension after quick decision

Angel Reese and the Atlanta Dream can breathe a sigh of relief. 

During the Dream's game against the Portland Fire on Friday, which Atlanta lost, 101-83, Reese received her eighth technical foul. That meant she was in line to get suspended for one game. But, that's not happening.

According to The Athletic, the WNBA has already rescinded that technical. That means Reese will be available for the team's next game.

The Dream didn't waste any time getting their star cleared. The team appealed the technical, and according to Sabreena Merchant of The Athletic, "the league office said the call was overturned within three hours of the game ending."

So, Reese still has seven technical fouls for the season, which means she's going to be able to play on Sunday in the Dream's next matchup.

Angel Reese will be available for Atlanta's next game

During Friday's game, Reese had 16 points, 16 rebounds, six assists and two steals, according to ESPN data. She's not only one of the biggest names on the Dream's lineup but also one of their best players. They simply need her to be available to play, so the decision from the WNBA comes as a great relief to Atlanta.

As for that foul, during the fourth quarter, Reese and the Fire's Carla Leite got intertwined for a short moment. When the two were getting untangled, Reese appeared to slightly push Leite breaking free. So, the officials called a technical foul.

But, the WNBA must have watched that tape and decided it wasn't worthy of the technical foul designation. Now, Reese and the Dream will go up against the Minnesota Lynx on Sunday.
