Chicago Sky suffered their 11th loss of the season on Friday, falling 83-78 to the Golden State Valkyries in their first-ever meeting. Valkyries veteran Kayla Thornton led the way with a career-high 29 points, while Chicago managed to keep it close behind Angel Reese’s double-double.

Reese continued her stellar season despite the loss, finishing with 17 points and 18 rebounds across 34 minutes. The performance was her ninth double-double, reinforcing her status as one of the league’s elite rebounders. However, despite her impressive outings of late, Chicago still finds itself 4-11 and below a WNBA playoff spot.

Reese’s rebound dominance has made her a consistent bright spot, but her public life has also captured fan attention. On Saturday, she commented on Instagram under a post by her close friend Nabeela Idris, who is enjoying the London summer.

Nabeela, a former Texas A&M player, frequently appears on Reese’s social channels. Admitting to feeling left out while busy with her WNBA obligations, Reese dropped a simple message.

"euro summer without me ," she wrote.

Reese has posted heartfelt messages to her friend before and often remarks with pride and admiration. In one Instagram story from December of last year, she wrote: “I literally have the prettiest best friend in the world omg" (h/t Sportskeeda).

After falling to Golden State, Reese is expected to suit up again when the Sky visit the Los Angeles Sparks on Sunday, hoping to build on her strong individual performance and earn a crucial win for a team that desperately needs momentum.
