Angel Reese is set to start her second WNBA season after her rookie campaign was cut short due to a wrist injury. In the wake of her participation in the inaugural season of Unrivaled, Reese hasn't stopped recruiting players to the Chicago Sky.
Kahleah Copper, who won the 2021 WNBA Finals MVP with the Sky, has seemingly become a target for Reese. The former LSU star had previously shown her desire to bring Copper back to Wintrust Arena.
On Wednesday, Reese joked about pulling a new recruitment attempt after Copper praised her on the "Good Follow" show on DraftKings Network.
"That's (Reese) really grandbaby," Copper said. "She's been a sponge from day one. But just outside of what you hear, you always want to experience people for yourself. Just being a competitor, competing against her and then competing with her is so different."
Reese responded by saying she was desperate to talk with Copper to try to get her to rejoin the Sky.
"Can't wait to talk (expletive) to my grandma until she come back home @kahleahcopper," Reese wrote.
Reese and Copper made history at Unrivaled after they helped Rose BC become the first-ever league champion. They had other WNBA stars on the team like Chelsea Gray, Azurá Stevens and Lexie Hull, among others.
After securing the No. 2 seed in the regular season, they beat Laces in the semifinal before taking care of Vinyl to win the championship when many thought Napheesa Collier's Lunar Owls (13-1) were championship-bound after the regular season.
Reese could try to lure Copper away from the Phoenix Mercury, but the latter's tumultuous exit from the squad in 2023 may block any move Reese tries to make.
