New Atlanta Dream forward Angel Reese is reflecting on a remarkable year so far.
The former LSU Tigers star dazzled for Team USA at the FIBA Women's World Cup Qualifying Tournament in March. She averaged 6.8 points and a team-leading 8.0 rebounds per game across five games.
Reese helped the Americans post a perfect 5-0 record and emerged as a tournament MVP candidate.
Off the court, her influence has reached new heights. Reese recently became the face of Victoria's Secret's Bombshell Bronze Eau de Parfum collection.
Now, with the 2026 WNBA season tipping off May 8, the 23-year-old is ready to write a new chapter with her new team.
After two seasons with the Chicago Sky, Reese's WNBA journey takes a new turn. The Sky traded her to the Atlanta Dream on April 6 in exchange for Atlanta's first-round picks in 2027 and 2028. The deal included second-round swap rights in 2028.
Reese wasted no time settling in. She posted a photo on Instagram Stories centered on her big career news. She showed herself wearing a Dream jersey, flashing a big smile. Reese admitted that she's currently in disbelief as to how good she has it right now.
"Smiling through it all!!! I can't believe this is my life," she wrote.
Big things are expected in her third WNBA season. Under head coach Karl Smesko, Reese joins a Dream squad that finished 30-14 in 2025, third-best in the league. Atlanta exited in the first round of the playoffs. Reese gives the Dream a dominant interior presence heading into in 2026.
Her résumé speaks for itself. Reese averaged 14.7 points and 12.6 rebounds per game in her first two seasons. She led the league in rebounding both years.
Reese became the only player in WNBA history to average at least 12.0 rebounds per game in back-to-back seasons. The 23-year-old earned All-WNBA Rookie Team honors in 2024 and made the All-Star team in both seasons.
In Atlanta, she reunites with Rhyne Howard, a teammate from Team USA's FIBA qualifying run in Puerto Rico. With her influence growing on and off the court, Reese enters the 2026 WNBA season with no shortage of motivation.
