Angel Reese had her best game of the young 2025 season on Sunday night. After missing all eight of her shot attempts in a 99-74 loss to the New York Liberty on Thursday, Reese scored a season-high 13 points against the Los Angeles Sparks, adding 12 more rebounds and four assists on the road.
But Reese's efforts weren't enough for her Chicago Sky, which dropped to 0-3 after a 91-78 defeat in Los Angeles.
The loss compounded an already-difficult start for Reese and the Sky. Chicago has been outscored by 73 points in three games, while Reese has missed 23 of her 33 shot attempts, drawing continued criticism from fans.

But despite the Sky's poor start to 2025, Reese has made one thing abundantly clear: she is staying "locked in and focused" in spite of the intensifying criticism surrounding her game.
"(I am) ignoring the outside (noise) but also hearing the claps and encouragement, because I know a lot of people do believe in us," Reese told reporters on Sunday.
Dating to last season, Reese has registered a points-rebounds double-double in each of the past seven games she has played. But the Sky have won only once in that stretch, under two different head coaches.

It was hoped that Reese's return from wrist surgery would galvanize Chicago under first-year coach Tyler Marsh, who came from a strong player development background on the Las Vegas Aces' staff. In addition to Reese, the return of former WNBA champion Courtney Vandersloot and the addition of guard Hailey Van Lith were regarded as potential major moves for the rebuilding organization.
But so far, little has clicked for the Sky in 2025 -- and Reese understands that the process for improvement is going to take some time.
"We have a long way to go," Reese said Sunday. "We have to take our time, day-by-day, and just continue to put our heads down and work."
