The Chicago Sky entered Thursday night’s matchup against the New York Liberty with an 8-26 record, already eliminated from WNBA postseason contention for the second consecutive season.

Still, the team has shown a desire to compete, evident in their 94-88 loss to the Seattle Storm on Tuesday and again against the Liberty.

Chicago edged out the Liberty in a thrilling 90-85 victory, led by Kamilla Cardoso, who tallied 22 points, 15 rebounds, and five assists. In just her second game back from injury, Angel Reese contributed 21 points and 10 rebounds while also making rare WNBA history by tying her own personal record.

According to Polymarket Hoops, Reese has tied her own rookie-season record as the fastest player in WNBA history to reach 300 rebounds in a single season—achieving the milestone in just her 25th game of the year.

Since being selected No. 7 overall in the 2024 WNBA draft, Angel Reese’s rebounding has quickly become one of the most dominant aspects of her game.

Entering Thursday’s matchup, Reese was averaging 14.4 points, 12.3 rebounds, 3.7 assists, and 1.4 steals per game this season.

Chicago has now earned their ninth win of the season and still have nine games remaining to finish strong in head coach Tyler Marsh’s first year at the helm.

Reese and the Sky will return to action on Saturday afternoon when they host the (7-27) Connecticut Sun, followed by a Monday night matchup against the red-hot (22-14) Las Vegas Aces, who are currently riding an eight-game winning streak.
