Angel Reese Names Sky Teammate Who Has 'Made My Life Easier'

As the Chicago Sky continue to build around their core of Angel Reese and Kamilla Cardoso, they added a number of new players to the roster during the offseason.

The Sky were able to sign Courtney Vandersloot and Kia Nurse in free agency, and they even landed Rebecca Allen and Ariel Atkins via trade. Meanwhile, in the 2025 WNBA Draft, the franchise selected Reese's former LSU Tigers teammate, Hailey Van Lith.

After finishing the 2024 season with the worst record in the Eastern Conference (13-27), the Sky appear poised for a better year with a revamped roster and a new coach in Tyler Marsh.

Now, as the Sky start their preparations for the upcoming campaign—playing their first preseason game against the Brazil women's national team on Friday—Reese expressed her excitement with the roster they have. In fact, there's one player in particular that the All-Star forward is happy to team up with.

"It has been great to have Sloot back," Reese said of Vandersloot, who started her career with the Sky in 2011 and played for the team until 2023. Vandersloot also won the WNBA championship with Chicago in 2021.

"She's a great vet, she sees things and does things that may not show up on the statsheet… She's been a great leader. It has been a great transition coming from last year to this year… I love Sloot. I know everyone is happy to have her back. She's made my life easier."

The Sky really needed a playmaker and a real locker room leader, and it's hard to find anyone more fitting than Courtney Vandersloot. After all, she's well-respected in the organization where she was a four-time All-Star.

It remains to be seen how impactful Vandersloot will be on the Sky once the season starts, but based on Angel Reese's comments, she's off to a terrific start.
