Chicago Sky forward Angel Reese had a historic WNBA rookie season before a wrist injury cut it short. Appearing in 36 games for the Sky last season, Reese averaged 13.6 points and 13.1 rebounds. Breaking the league's single-season rebounding record before it was overtaken by Las Vegas Aces star A'ja Wilson, Reese finished second in WNBA Rookie of the Year voting to Indiana Fever guard Caitlin Clark.
Now competing in the inaugural season of Unrivaled, Reese is showcasing her game for Rose BC. In 14 regular season games for Rose, Reese averaged 13.1 points and 12.1 rebounds en route to a major accolade.
On Saturday, Unrivaled announced that Reese had won the league's Defensive Player of the Year award.
"Unrivaled's Defensive Player of the Year: The Angel Reese," the league wrote.

Reacting to this news, Reese shared a strong message of her own on X.
"God, thank you for getting me through the highs & lows!" Reese exclaimed. "Be where your feet are & allow yourself growth!"

Reese appeared to re-injure her wrist in Monday's game, but neither she nor the team has announced an update on her status entering the playoffs (via Julia Poe of the Chicago Tribune). Rose BC is set to host the Laces on Sunday to kick off the Unrivaled postseason.
If Reese is unable to participate in the playoffs, it would be a major blow for a Rose team she helped lead to an 8-4 record. That said, she has not been ruled out, which is a good sign at this point.
