The Chicago Sky brought home arguably the best class in the 2024 WNBA Draft. It is hard to argue against the Indiana Fever and their selection of Caitlin Clark, but the duo of Angel Reese and Kamilla Cardoso was excellent for Chicago in their first professional season.
Despite missing the playoffs, both of these players were fortunate enough to land on the All-Rookie team, and Reese was named an All-Star, in large part due to her leading the league in rebounds. However, the team has not re-signed guard Chennedy Carter this offseason, and they'll need a scoring threat to take her place.
On Monday, the Associated Press' Doug Feinberg released a WNBA mock draft in which the Sky find a player to fill Carter's role. He had them selecting Kentucky guard Georgia Amoore, who was an All-American last season for the Wildcats.
"The Sky could pair Amoore with veteran guard Courtney Vandersloot to help the Australian learn the pro game," wrote Feinberg. "She averaged 19.6 points and 6.9 assists for Kentucky this season after transferring from Virginia Tech to play for Kenny Brooks, her former Hokies coach before he took the job in Lexington."
Amoore would not only be an immediate producer for the Sky during her rookie season, but she would also provide a sense of excitement and flare that the team's fan base could latch onto. Pairing her with a strong young duo of bigs in Reese and Cardoso may be enough to have this team back in the playoffs as soon as this season.
