Angel Reese pulls a curious move after Sky’s season ends

Angel Reese does not appear to be interested in showing solidarity with her team at the moment.

The Chicago Sky star, Reese, is not conducting her exit interviews with the rest of the team, Christian Conway of Winsidr reported Friday. Sky team exit interviews officially began on Friday, but Reese’s exit interview will be scheduled for a later date. Conway also notes that Sky guard Ariel Atkins will be doing her exit interview at a later date as well.

Chicago Sky are coming off another poor season

Chicago’s season just came to an end on Thursday with a 91-86 loss to the New York Liberty. That put them at a woeful 10-34 to finish the year, marking their second-worst season in franchise history.

As for Reese, she recently issued a very public complaint about the direction of the Sky and was suspended by Chicago over those remarks (reportedly having angered teammates and franchise figures alike). She apologized for those remarks — but she shouldn't have. After serving her suspension, Reese did not play again for Chicago on the season due to a cited back injury, finishing the year with averages of 14.7 points, 12.6 rebounds and 3.7 assists per game.

It is possible that Reese simply had a scheduling conflict on Friday or that the Sky did not want a media frenzy around Reese that would bombard the rest of the day’s exit interviews. But we know that a potential trade of Reese is now on the table for Chicago this offseason, so the optics of her doing her exit interview apart from the rest of her Sky teammates are certainly interesting.
