Angel Reese has been a star in the women's basketball landscape for years.
Before playing for the Chicago Sky, Reese was one of the most well-known players in the college basketball realm with the LSU Tigers.
Reese played two seasons for LSU after transferring from Maryland, where she started her career as a homegrown recruit.
In 2025, as Reese works through her second season in the WNBA, she took some time to credit one of her previous coaches at LSU.
On Monday, Reese sent a message to LSU women's basketball assistant coach Gary Redus II.
"Happy birthday to my guy," Reese said. "Auntie Tiff's husband. The one that always believed. Appreciate you so much."
The LSU women's basketball team's social media account also sent a message to Redus.
"Help us wish Coach Gary Redus II a happy birthday," posted LSU.
Angel Reese played for LSU from 2022 to 2024. She helped lead the Tigers to a national title during the 2022-23 season, averaging 23 points and 15.4 rebounds per game.
Gary Redus II, the son of former Major League Baseball player Gary Redus, joined Kim Mulkey's staff at LSU just one season before Reese landed with the Tigers. Before his time at LSU, Redus also worked with the Vanderbilt Commodores, Delta State Lady Statesmen and SMU Mustangs, serving in several coaching staff roles.
In Angel Reese's final season with LSU (2023-24), the 6-foot-3 forward posted 18.6 points, 13.4 rebounds and 2.3 assists per game.
In the WNBA, Reese is averaging 10.8 points, 11.5 rebounds and 3.5 assists per game for the Chicago Sky.
