Angel Reese’s Post Fuels Speculation Amid NBA Dating Rumors

Chicago Sky training camp opens on Sunday in preparation for the 2025 WNBA season opener against Caitlin Clark and the Indiana Fever on May 17.

On Friday night during the NBA playoffs, though, Angel Reese's mind was on something else entirely.

During Game 3 of the Orlando Magic's Eastern Conference first round playoff series against the Boston Celtics — which the Magic won 95-93 to cut their series deficit to 2-1 — Reese posted a message "for a friend" asking for a bit of off-court advice from her followers.

"So what’s gonna be the name for the male wags???" Reese wrote on X. "Asking for a friend."

The term WAGs is used in the male-centric sports world to refer to the wives and girlfriends of players.

Reese wanted to know what to call the lover boys of WNBA players, but the timing of the question fueled the existing speculation about her own love life — which many fans think involves an NBA player.

Prior to the post, rumors had been growing about Reese dating a player on the Orlando Magic. She has attended multiple Magic games this season, dating back to the beginning of the WNBA offseason in November 2024.

Based on a preference to date taller men who play in the NBA that Reese admitted on her podcast, fans narrowed the possibilities to a short list of players on Orlando's roster including Wendell Carter Jr., Jett Howard and Paolo Banchero. No one knows anything for certain, but Reese's post on Friday added fuel to the fire.

"Not too much Wendell Carter Jr," a fan responded to Reese's post.

"WCJS," answered another, referring to the 6-foot-10 Magic big man.

"SHE DATING SOMEONE ON THE MAGIC, I ALREADY CALLED THIS," said one internet detective on X.

"Girrrrlll??? Who’s this friend you’re always asking questions like this for?" prodded one reply.

Beyond attending games, multiple factors played into the NBA dating rumors. The Sky forward spent a big chunk of her offseason in the same state where the Magic play while competing in the Unrivaled 3-on-3 basketball league, which was centrally located in Miami.

She also has a connection to the Magic through former LSU teammate and 2025 Chicago draft pick Hailey Van Lith, who is in a relationship with Magic guard Jalen Suggs.
