The Atlanta Dream finally got some good news on the Brittney Griner front on Sunday ahead of their matchup against the Phoenix Mercury. After missing three straight games due to a neck injury, Griner was finally cleared to play on Sunday in a matchup against her former team.

Griner, who came into the game with averages of 10.6 points, 5.6 rebounds and 1.1 blocks per contest, did not start for the Dream on Sunday. She had to come off the bench as the nine-time All-Star works to get her conditioning back following a lengthy injury layoff.

Griner logged 13 minutes in her first game back, finishing with two points, two rebounds, an assist and one block. The 6-foot-9 center returned to a win as the Dream took care of business in a road game at PHX Arena, 74-66.

Unfortunately for Atlanta, it was dealt a massive blow late in the third quarter. This came in the form of starting guard Jordin Canada suffering a non-contact injury to her leg. The two-time All-Defensive guard had to be carried off the court and looked like she was in some serious pain.

It did not take long for the Dream to announce that Canada was ruled out for the remainder of the contest.

As of writing, Atlanta has not provided a concrete update on Canada's status, but given the circumstances, it would not be a surprise if the 30-year-old is forced to miss time because of this injury.

Canada should undergo tests after the game to determine the extent of the injury, which, in turn, should also determine how much time, if any, the 5-foot-6 guard will have to be sidelined for. For now, Dream fans have no other choice but to hope for the best.
