The Atlanta Dream and the Seattle Storm are scheduled to play against each other at the Climate Pledge Arena in Seattle, Washington, on Friday evening.

But ahead of the game, the official PR account of the Dream announced on Thursday evening that their center, Brittney Griner, is dealing with a knee issue and is listed as “probable” for Friday’s game.

Meanwhile, veteran Jordin Canada is still out because of an injury to her right knee from a preseason game against the Washington Mystics on May 7. Her injury occurred within seconds of the commencement of the game when she landed on the court after attempting a shot.

It is also important to note that Griner has missed the last two games of the season. The 10-time All-Star participated in the pre-game shootaround before the game against the Connecticut Sun on Sunday, but did not play. She was also ruled out of their game against the Los Angeles Sparks on Tuesday.

During a preseason game against the Indiana Fever on May 10, Griner "ran back to the locker room about two minutes into the game," Chloe Peterson of the IndyStar wrote on X. "Didn't look serious (considering the running), but something to monitor." She ended up sitting out for the rest of the game, but no injury was reported.

Griner is a WNBA star and three-time Olympic gold medalist known for her dominant presence on the court. A Baylor University standout and NCAA champion, she was the 2013 No. 1 draft pick and signed with the Phoenix Mercury. After playing for the Mercury for eleven seasons, except in 2022 when she was incarcerated on drug charges in Russia, she signed a one-year deal in January with the Dream in free agency.

Fans can watch the Dream play against the Storm on Friday at 7:00 P.M. PT.
