It was unfortunately announced Friday that Rachel DeMita will no longer represent the BIG3.

DeMita was hired by the BIG3 in June 2024 to be a courtside commentator providing behind-the-scenes content. She was fairly popular in the basketball world prior to landing that gig due to her work as the host of NBA 2KTV.

Even though fans enjoyed DeMita's work with the BIG3, she was let go due to her social media activity. No, we're not kidding.

Apparently, the "final straw" for DeMita was that she tweeted out Caitlin Clark highlights in the middle of a BIG3 game that she was working at.

DeMita addressed the elephant in the room on Friday, releasing a video on X regarding her situation with the BIG3.

"My team received an email at 11 p.m. on Tuesday with a letter that essentially said I was terminated," DeMita said.

DeMita then shared the email with her audience.

"It has come to BIG3's attention that Ms. DeMita was posting on her social media platform during this past weekend's BIG3 games and was promoting the competing New York Liberty vs. Indiana Fever WNBA game that was being broadcast at the same time," the email allegedly said. "The league is completely dismayed and disappointed by Ms. DeMita's severe lapse in judgment while performing services for the league during which time she should have reasonable known she should've promoted only league games. The league provided her with unique access and opportunity to be a focal point on national broadcasts, so management was completely taken aback that she was posting about another league's games while in the midst of rendering services."

DeMita owned up to her mistakes, adding that she had zero intention on hurting the BIG3.

"I wasn't under the impression those tweets would do any severe harm to the BIG3 or anyone would think any type of way about it. I'm not making excuses, I'll take it on the chin. I apologize for that."

It's unclear who'll replace DeMita as the BIG3's new courtside commentator.
