Bridget Carleton is one of the key players that the Minnesota Lynx count on to lead the team entering yet another WNBA season. Her recent effort against the Chicago Sky, though, might kickstart her in a better direction.
Carleton only scored eight points as the Lynx lost to the Sky 74-69 on Tuesday, May 6, in Chicago. Both teams will square off again, but this time the WNBA preseason contest takes place at Target Center in Minneapolis, Minnesota, on Saturday, May 10.
Alanna Smith led the Lynx with 10 points in that loss. Carleton, a 6-foot-2 forward who is a native of Canada, was the 21st overall pick by the Connecticut Sun in the 2019 WNBA Draft.

But she's been a part of the Lynx organization after being waived by the Sun in July 2019. Carleton originally signed a seven-day contract with the Lynx in August 2019.
Last season, Carleton saw her on-court time go from 15 minutes in 2023 to almost 30 minutes in 2024. She also bumped up her scoring numbers, rising from 3.2 points-per-game to 9.6 ppg. Carleton saw her name mentioned in conversations for the WNBA's Most Improved Player Award. Her efforts on the court led Carleton to finish in third place for the honor last season.
Obviously, Lynx head coach Cheryl Reeve loves what Carleton has been providing as an on-court presence. The Lynx, who are four-time WNBA champions, hope that Carleton and her teammates can pull off a preseason win against Angel Reese, Hailey Van Lith, and the Chicago Sky.
