Brittney Griner has continued to find success with the Atlanta Dream, playing with the WNBA team for the first time in her professional career.
Griner spent most of her career with the Phoenix Mercury before making the move to play with two of the biggest stars in the league: Rhyne Howard and Allisha Gray.
The Dream recently took the floor, playing the Las Vegas Aces weeks before the playoffs.
While Atlanta was considered one of the hottest teams in the WNBA, the Dream suffered a brutal 74-72 loss to the Aces.
As Atlanta regroups, Brittney Griner took to social media to make a personal announcement during the WNBA season.
Griner will officially be a guest on "Finding Your Roots" Season 12.
"I am thrilled to be a guest on #FindingYourRoots Season 12," Griner said. "Exploring my family’s history with @henrylouisgates was truly unforgettable. I can’t wait to share what I learned! Finding Your Roots Season 12 premieres January 6, 2026 on @PBS."
Brittney Griner mentioned that Season 12 of "Finding Your Roots" will premiere on Jan. 6. The show has already produced 11 seasons with educator Henry Louis Gates Jr. hosting the PBS series. Season 12 will include other celebrities, such as Spike Lee, Kristin Chenoweth and America Ferrera, according to People magazine.
These episodes show the audience a view of celebrities' ancestral histories, discovering secrets and potential, tying emotional memories in the documentaries.
Throughout her first season with the Atlanta Dream, Brittney Griner has posted 10.4 points, 5.5 rebounds and 0.9 assists per game.
In the loss to the Las Vegas Aces, Griner had 16 points, eight rebounds and two assists.
The Dream (22-13) are tied with the defending champion New York Liberty for the second-best record in the WNBA and the best record in the Eastern Conference. Atlanta's next game, at 7:30 p.m. ET Friday, is against the team with the WNBA's best record, the Minnesota Lynx.
