The Atlanta Dream have courted one of the most successful teams this season, riding the leadership of Brittney Griner, Rhyne Howard and Allisha Gray.

On Sunday, Atlanta went into a matchup looking to knock down the No. 1 team in the WNBA, the Minnesota Lynx.

While Gray and Howard have mainly been the driving factors, especially on the offensive end, Griner showed off her skill set against the Lynx. Howard is currently sidelined and has been for the past several weeks due to a left knee injury sustained during a July 11 game.

Griner stretched her game to the three-point line against Minnesota, earning a new nickname from the WNBA in the process.

The WNBA posted a video of Griner making a three-point basket, mentioning that her initials stand for "Big Guard."

"BG STANDS FOR BIG GUARD," posted the WNBA.

Throughout her first season with the Atlanta Dream, Brittney Griner has been averaging 10.5 points, 5.8 rebounds and 0.8 assists per game.

She hasn't been dominant on the offensive end for Atlanta, but Griner has shown up when the Dream call her number and is the team's most consistent contributor on the defensive end.

Griner is averaging 1.2 blocks per game with the Dream, strengthening Atlanta in the defensive category.

Griner spent her first 11 seasons with the Phoenix Mercury. During her time with the Mexury, Griner led the team to a WNBA title and was named a two-time Defensive Player of the Year, eight-time blocks leader, six-time All-WNBA and 10-time All-Star.
