Atlanta Dream star Brittney Griner had an early exit from Wednesday's game against the Dallas Wings, and now will likely face some big punishment from the WNBA.
Grinner was ejected early in the second half of the game after a heated confrontation with a referee. The All-Star forward was battling with Haley Jones for a rebound when she was called for a foul, then argued with an official, drawing a technical foul.
Griner continued to confront the official, making contact as she argued the call. The bump led to a second technical foul and an automatic ejection. While Griner quickly left the court after being tossed, she is now in danger of further punishment from the WNBA.

The league has cracked down on players who make contact with officials, including some of the WNBA's biggest stars in the league's biggest moments. Phoenix Mercury star Diana Taurasi was fined $2,500 for making contact with an official during the 2021 WNBA Finals. Taurasi pushed an official out of the way when trying to get to teammate Sophie Cunningham after a heated moment on the floor.
It's not clear if Griner could face a suspension for Wednesday's incident, but her ejection came at a difficult time for the Dream. The team is 15-11 and locked in a tight race for playoff seeding.
