After spending 11 seasons with the Phoenix Mercury, center Brittney Griner elected to take her talents to the Atlanta Dream over the offseason. It has turned into a solid decision to begin the 2025 WNBA season.
Griner and the Dream jumped to 8-3 to begin the year after defeating the Washington Mystics 89-56 on Sunday. Atlanta is in the midst of a three-game winning streak and has won seven of its last eight.
While Griner may be having her worst statistical season since she was selected out of Baylor in 2011, her 6-foot-9 frame provides a defensive presence unlike any other in the league. Through nine games played, she is averaging 10.8 points on 48.8% shooting, 6.0 rebounds and 1.4 blocks per game.
With the 2025 season nearly a quarter of the way over, All-Star voting is already underway, beginning Thursday and running through Saturday, June 28. And on three designated "2-for-1 days," June 14, 20 and 27, each fan vote will count twice.
The Dream announced on Threads that All-Star voting would count double during the first “2-for-1 Day,” sharing an image featuring Griner, Rhyne Howard, Allisha Gray and Brionna Jones.
"Your vote counts double today! Comment 'All-Star' for the link to select your favorite Dream player," the post read.
Although she was two days late, on Monday, Griner quoted the Dream's post and requested fans go vote.
"You know what to dooooo - show up !! ✅," Griner wrote on Threads.
