WNBA star Brittney Griner has officially bid her farewell to the Phoenix Mercury after her decision to leave this offseason.

Griner tested free agency for the first time in her career this 2025, eventually opting to join the Atlanta Dream on a one-year deal. It was quite the surprising move since the Team USA star had been with the Mercury since 2013. Phoenix drafted Griner first overall during that year's WNBA draft.

As she starts a new chapter in her remarkable career, Griner made sure to look back at her time with the Mercury and show her appreciation for all the people who made her stint with the team extra special.

"THE VALLEY…." Griner started her post, which included a clip composed of her highlights with the Mercury. "Where do I start? A kid from Houston made her way to PHX! I’ve loved every moment and will never forget where it all started!

"X-Factor, the connections were real! I appreciate the love you’ve shown me from day 1! Regardless of the jersey on my chest, one fact remains the same: I love y’all."

Griner also emphasized that she's not saying goodbye to the city that she has grown to love, noting that "it’s a I’ll see you this summer type of thing!"

The 34-year-old Griner averaged 17.7 points, 7.4 rebounds, 1.9 assists and 2.6 blocks per game in her 11-year career with the Mercury. She also helped lead Phoenix to the WNBA championship in 2014.

Now that she's with the Dream, it will certainly be interesting to see what kind of impact she makes on her new team.
