Brittney Griner Shows Extreme Confidence Heading Into WNBA Playoffs

Fresh off of setting a new franchise mark for regular season wins, Brittney Griner and the Atlanta Dream are feeling really good about their chances heading into the WNBA playoffs.

The Dream have a chance to post the first 30-win season in the organization's history with another victory over the Connecticut Sun in Wednesday's finale — and they're currently riding high off a five-game win streak behind some impressive performances from former No. 1 pick Rhyne Howard.

And while Griner may not be averaging the numbers that landed her nine All-Star selections and six All-WNBA teams (9.6 PTS & 5.2 REB in 2025), the 2014 champion is instilling confidence in the Dream that they can get a ring of their own this fall.

Griner has two-word message about team's championship hopes

"Everybody's ready," Griner said after Atlanta's blowout win on Monday night.

"When you get into the Finals, every single time, it's always that extra player that you're not thinking of. It's always that sixth, seventh player, and I think we have that, honestly," the two-time scoring champ explained. "From starting-five to everybody on that bench, we're ready to come in and do what we need to do."

"Coach has done an amazing job on challenging each and every one of us," she added. "He really focuses on getting better himself, and you can see it. When you got a coach like that, we all ready to go play for him."

Peaking at the right time

The Dream were able to overcome this year's league-wide injury bug and appear to be getting healthy at just the right time to make a deep playoff run.

Guards Rhyne Howard, Jordin Canada and Allisha Gray have only shared the floor 15 times this season and all were listed as active this week; which is definitely a welcome sign for head coach Karl Smesko and their fans.

"It's definitely nice to be going into the playoffs and everybody's available to play," Smesko admitted during Monday's press conference. "I think that's a huge advantage. It seems like there's a couple teams that have struggled with injuries all year, and now they're getting everybody back at the right time."

Atlanta is guaranteed a top-three seed as it jockeys with the Las Vegas Aces, who would need to drop one of their last two games to the Sky or the Sparks, for the Dream to move up in the standings.

We'll see how that ultimately plays out, but Griner's team has to feel confident in its ability to make some noise in the postseason no matter where they slot in the bracket.
