Indiana Fever point guard Caitlin Clark is heading into her second WNBA season following her Rookie of the Year campaign as the league's No. 1 overall pick in 2024.
The Fever selected Clark with the top pick in last year's draft just days after she led the Iowa Hawkeyes to a national championship appearance against the South Carolina Gamecocks.
This offseason was Clark's first extended break from basketball since the beginning of her senior season with the Hawkeyes. The All-Star point guard took full advantage of this time before Year 2 in the WNBA.
Clark spent some serious time in the weight room this past offseason, putting on some noticeable muscle mass.
Clark was asked about this noticeable physical change before Sunday's preseason matchup at Iowa's Carver-Hawkeye Arena.
"Being able to stick to that routine and do that, I think that's what led me to look a little bigger," Clark said. "We'll see if it helps. I don't know. Remains to be seen. But it's worked in our workouts so far."
"From a stamina standpoint, I think going throughout the season it's going to help me feel better," Clark continued. "By game 40-44, it's going to help. And then the playoffs — the most important time of the year — it gets physical... I think it's going to help there too."

Clark averaged 19.2 points, 5.7 rebounds and a league-leading 8.4 assists per game in her rookie season. It took her a few games to adjust to the physicality of the WNBA, but she ended her debut campaign as one of the league's best players.
Clark is the odds favorite to win the 2025 WNBA MVP, and the Fever are one of the leading preseason favorites to win a championship.
Clark and the Fever will tipoff their regular-season schedule with a highly-anticipated matchup against Angel Reese and the Chicago Sky on May 17.
